Features to know about

Installs Fast Without Wire Cutting: Plug-In T-Connector

Hooking up trailer lights doesn’t need to be complicated. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector plugs directly into the vehicle’s existing tail light wiring. There’s no cutting or splicing—just pop the connectors in behind each tail light and you’re ready to go. The built-in converter handles the signal transfer for running lights, turn signals, and brake lights so everything works right from the start.

Simple Setup Behind the Tail Lights: Clean Factory Fit

The harness connects behind the tail lights using factory-style plugs, keeping the install hidden and tidy. Once connected, you can route the 4-flat wire out through the trunk or a rear panel when towing, then tuck it away when you’re not. It gives you a clean setup that’s ready when you need it without extra loose wiring hanging around.

Grounded for Reliable Power: Solid Connection for Every Trip

A solid ground is key to good trailer lighting, and this harness makes that easy. The white ground wire comes with a ring terminal to mount directly to bare metal on the frame. When grounded properly, it keeps your running, turn, and brake lights consistent without flickering or weak signals.

Covers the Basics for Small Trailers: Standard 4-Flat Connector

The 4-pole flat connector provides power for running lights, turn signals, and brake lights—the standard setup for small and midsize trailers. It’s ready to pair with accessories like a 7-way adapter if you decide to add a brake controller or need a charging circuit later on.

Protected from Moisture and Corrosion: Ready When You Are

The included dust cover keeps dirt and water out of the connector when it’s not in use. It helps prevent corrosion so your trailer lighting stays reliable season after season. When it’s time to tow, just remove the cap, plug in the trailer, and hit the road knowing your wiring is ready to work.

My wife and I installed a 2" Curt trailer hitch (and wiring) on our 2015 Mazda CX-5. Total installation time was about 2 hours. We didn't have any problems with the instillation of the hitch or wiring. Etrailer has a video link available, which should be viewed before you begin your installation. However, there wasn't any audio with this.
The hitch is solid and appears to be well built. Occasionally, we pull a small aluminum trailer loaded with kayaks, or other light items.
We have ordered from Etrailer before and feel they are a good company to do business with.

Weve had our Curt hitch for over a year now and it still looks like new. Were very satisfied and recommend Curt and Etrailer.

by:

Shipping was prompt and without issues. The install
On my 2014 Mazda cx5 was easy and stright forward. I watched the install video on the product page for CX5, and just
Followed the steps in video. Took 10min to remove interior panels, ect, and 10 min to make all plug and play connections, no issues.
Then 10min to put panels back in place. Tested the flat connector
As described in video. Works perfectly. This is after I went to Uhaul and they spent almost 2 hours under my CX5 baffled and unable to install a traditional trailer wire kit. I left with hitch only and installed this plug and play kit, completely satisfied.

This harness made it super easy to add trailer wiring to my CX-5. Watching the video helped a lot. Along with a Curt Auxiliary lighting kit I was able to make a light bar for my Hollywood bike rack.

Another great product from etrailer. High quality wiring. Everything encapsulated in high quality seals keeping connections water tight. Easy snap connection fittings. Easy original equipment install. Highly recommend.

Easy Plug and Palay installation on my 2015 Mazda CX5

by:

instructions were a little lacking in clarity, but good otherwise.

by:

Plug and play easy.

by:

Excellent product, super easy plug and play, had the panels off and everything plugged in and put back together in under 15 minutes.

by:

Super Easy to install on my 2015 civic, the connectors for the brake and blinker lights are different sizes so its easy to match up. There was a factory ground screw right near the driver side taillight housing so I used that. I did this in about 20 minutes

by:

I am quite happy with this wiring kit! It truly is plug and play!!
After watching the video, the install was quick and easy.
I only deviated from the install video, where it concerns the ground wire.
It says to use a drill and make a 3/32 hole and use the self tapping screw, if you can not find an existing place to mount the ground wire.
On the CX-5 there is a perfectly placed nut that can be used, and you dont even need any extra tools above what the kit calls for.
When you pull off the plugs for the drivers side tail lights, you will also see 3 10mm nuts that hold the tail light in place.
Just remove the one below the brake light, and slip the ground wire over it and replace the nut.

I havent had to pull any more trailers, but I have no doubt it will work just fine, the next time I need to unroll it from the spare tire well!

by:

Went together perfectly, just like in the helpful videos. I just put the laptop in that area to watch the video (one for thehitch and one for the wiring harness) and hit the pause after each step.

  • Recommended Towing Capacity Of A 2015 Honda Accord EX-L With Class I Hitch
Per manufacturer's guidelines, the towing capacity of your 2015 Honda Accord EX-L with one passenger in the vehicle is rated at 1,000 lbs. whereas the Curt Class I Trailer Hitch is rated for a maximum 2,000 lbs. of gross trailer weight (GTW) and 200 lbs. of tongue weight (TW). Therefore you must abide by the lower of the two, being the car. As these capacities are well in-line with the trailer you plan to be hauling, there will be no warranty issues with this setup. • Would A Wiring Harness Like Curt C56011 Cause The Vehicles Battery To Drain?
Hello Christopher, thanks for reaching out, and good question. This is likely just your battery being shot and needing to be replaced. A wiring harness like the Curt # C56011 is not going to drain the battery like that. Unless there was something plugged into the 4-flat that was drawing power. Or if the power wire was shorted and touching bare metal it could cause a parasitic drain but under normal conditions you would not have to worry about the converter draining the battery. The power...

  • Wiring Harness For A 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid
Hello David, thanks for reaching out. We do have a wiring harness for your 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid, but the Curt # C56011 you mentioned will not work with the hybrid models. Instead you will need the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT which is confirmed to fit the hybrid models. The ZCI harnesses are great because there is no cutting or splicing of the vehicles wire harness. You will find the manufacturer instructions linked below.

The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TK46VR is confirmed to fit your 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander per the manufacturer. I like the T-One harness over the other harnesses because it has a more reliable powered converter box that will give you a longer running time than the others. This custom harness will plug into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness....

Hey Alex, thanks for reaching out! The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56011 will have just as good of quality as the OEM one for your 2014 Mazda CX-5 so I recommend using the T-Connector. Not only will you save money on the harness, but the dealer will charge you an arm and a leg to install it. • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2015 Mazda CX-5
We have a way you can install a 7-way on your 2015 Mazda CX-5 but not all vehicles have custom fit 7-ways made for them so you'd have to start with the more common 4-way like the part # C56011 which is custom fit for your vehicle. From there you'd need to convert it to a 7-way like what your trailer needs. If the trailer does not have brakes all you need is the # 37185 which plugs right into the 4-way and you'd be set. If the trailer does have brakes you'd instead need the # ETBC7 which...

  • Recommended Hitch Receiver for 2015 Honda Civic Towing Jet Ski Trailer
Yes, the Curt # C11391 would work, but there are some other factors that really make the EcoHitch a much better option. First, considering you've got a 2015 Honda Civic, ground clearance is going to be an issue since both the cross tube and receiver will sit below the bumper, making it much more prone to bottoming out. Because the EcoHitch # 306-X7235 has a concealed cross tube that mounts behind the bumper, it's going to give you some extra ground clearance that's going to be extremely...

  • Troubleshooting 2016 Mazda CX-5 Wiring Harness and Trailer Lights That Hyperflash
Since LED-type trailer lights use so little power as compared to the standard incandescent type bulbs - about one-tenth as much - there can be weird interactions when a trailer with LED lighting is connected to a vehicle wiring harness intended for standard bulbs. It sounds like perhaps the wiring harness you installed is not the correct one for your CX-5. If your car has LED taillights then the correct wiring harness for it is Tow Ready # 118563. • Easier to Install Trailer Wiring Harness for 2015 Mazda CX-5
You're correct, the Curt wiring harness for your 2015 Mazda CX-5, part # C56011, does not have a power wire that connects to the vehicle battery like the Tekonsha, part # 118563. In most cases I'd recommend the Tekonsha even though the install is more involved. Most Tekonsha wiring harnesses have a converter box that mounts to the vehicle with a screw that keeps it much more secure than the double sided tape that Curt commonly uses. In this case, both harnesses use tape so I'd go ahead...

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2015 Mazda CX-5
All of the wiring harnesses available for the 2015 Mazda CX-5 with incandescent lights are going to be fairly similar in terms of installation with one exception; the Curt # C56011 does not have a powered converter so there is no connection to the battery required. The Tekonsha # 118563 and Hopkins # HM11143165 come with a powered converter box. What this does is limit the power draw through the tail light wiring to better isolate the tow vehicle wiring and trailer wiring. So if there is...

This plug-and-play harness connects at the tail light assemblies by plugging in between the vehicle wiring and the tail light assemblies. The main problem you are having with the Curt harness # C56011 you have installed in your 2015 Mazda CX-5 is an insufficient ground for the trailer wiring. Try improving the connection of the main ground wire of the trailer wiring harness. Make sure it is attached to a clean metal surface. Or you can run all of the trailer wires back to the main ground.
