Recommended Converter to Isolate Turn Signal Functions From Brake Functions on LED Tail Lights

Published 03/16/2018

Question:

Thanks for your feedback which is really helpful, but I have a bit different situation here. My vehicle is European version (turn signal and brake are already separate 3 outputs) and the JW speaker backlights I got are American version. I need to separate the turn signal and brake back at the taillights. The other way round of what described in the reply, maybe I need a 3 to 2 converter or so. Also I think I might need 2 separators (one at each tail light)

To separate your combined turn and brake lights, you will need a converter to isolate those signals. You will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test for the functions to determine which wires to splice into for this converter to function properly.

To change the turn signal from red to amber, you will need to determine if the lens is replicable on your tail lights and if the LED's are able to work with amber or if they are only red.

For the conversion from 3 wire to 2 wire, you will want the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter # RM-732. Because of your application, you will need two of them. You may also want to use the Quick Splice Wire Connector - 14-18 AWG (Qty 1) # SWC501925-1 for easy connection.
