Is There a Safe Distance from a Cargo Carrier to the Exhaust to Avoid Cargo Damage

Question:
Hello, I have a 2018 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring edition that I wanted to add this cargo carrier to. It seems like it would be a good fit. My only concern is that the exhaust would come out about 14 inches from the carrier and would overlap it about 2 inches or so. Is this far enough away? Thanks.

Although there is no way to gauge the safe distance for cargo in the 24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18152 to be sitting away from your exhaust, I may have another solution for you.
The Curt # C18152 that you are interested in has a 2 inch rise in the shank as does # e98874.
The etrailer # e98874 has 19-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier when in use. This might help with your exhaust issue.
I have also attached a link to our selection of cargo carriers for you to filter through.
