Availability of Longer Cable for Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller

Question:
Is it possible to fabricate / purchase a longer cable? I am considering using this controller in my Freightliner M2 and for my purpose I would need at least a 48” or longer cable. Thank you for your assistance.

Expert Reply:
I spoke with my contact at Redarc regarding the Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR referenced in your question. He stated that the remote head cable is a standard RJ45 network cable, so while Redarc does not offer a longer replacement, one can be easily obtained locally up to 16 feet in length.
My contact also stated that if you plan on using a cable longer than 3 feet, he recommends clipping a ferrite bead onto the cable as close as possible to the main unit.
