Sway Bar and Steering Stabilizer Recommendation for 2016Jayco Alante 26Y

Published 11/11/2017

Question:

Jameson C., I too have a 2016 Jayco Alante 26Yinch in lieu of the 26X you responded on earlier. Like the other individual, I essentially have my new unit parked due to the effort necessary to drive down the highway and keep it in one lane. However, I am somewhat confused with your suggestions for upgrades when you talk about sway bars, steering , etc. The 2016 Jayco Alante 26Y and/or 26X both of which sit on the 2015 Ford F53 Chassis 16k - 18k GVW come from the factory with their much vaunted JRide suspension Bilstein Shock absorbers, Computer-balanced driveshaft, jounce bumpers and Front and rear sway bars. How would your suggestions on these units improve on the handling characteristics when the factory-delivered units appear to already have the same level of equipment installed? Your expanded explanations wuld be most gratefully received as I am a real neophyte when it comes to things mechanical. Thanks in advance for your response. Respectfully,

That's a really good question. The issue that Ford has with the sway bars they install on their chassis is that since they do not install the body of the RV onto the chassis it's really hard for them to come up with a decent sway bar in their R and D department. Because of that an aftermarket sway bar company like Roadmaster does a better job as they do their development on the motorhome with it full assembled.

We get your question quite a bit since the F-53 is notorious for needing better sway bars. The rear bar makes the biggest difference which for your 2016 Jayco Alante you'd want the part # RM-1139-146 which will help quite a bit.

Next is the front bar part # RM-1139-148 which would make a big difference. Then for a stabilizer you would want the part # RM-RBK4-RSSA.
