Features to know about

Better Control in the Wind: Rear Bar Reduces Side-to-Side Movement

Crosswinds and passing trucks are no longer a fight when your suspension can actually hold its line. The Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar ties the rear axle to the frame so it can counter side pressure and keep things level. The 1-1/2" diameter 4140 chromoly steel bar applies the axle’s own weight to brace the chassis, reducing sway and body roll. You’ll feel the difference right away — steadier tracking, less steering correction, and a calmer drive even on uneven pavement or in gusty weather.

Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar installed on a rear axle showing connection points to chassis and axle to reduce body roll and improve vehicle stability

Confidence in Every Turn: Balances Weight Transfer

Nothing unsettles a heavy rig like a quick lane change or sharp curve. This bar balances the load between the frame and axle so both sides share the work through corners. That means the body stays level, traction stays consistent, and you stay in control when maneuvering through traffic or curvy roads. It’s designed to work with your existing suspension and factory sway bar, so it supports rather than replaces your setup for even better handling.

Built for Strength: 1-1/2" 4140 Chromoly Steel Bar

This isn’t mild steel—it’s 4140 chromoly, a strong chromium-molybdenum alloy that’s much tougher than standard 1020 steel. The thicker bar diameter adds stiffness to resist roll, giving you nearly 30% more sway resistance. Together, that extra rigidity and premium alloy construction deliver long-term durability under the heaviest loads.

Durable Bushings: Polyurethane for Long-Lasting Support

Standard rubber bushings squish out over time, but the polyurethane bushings in this setup don’t. They resist oil, gas, and ozone so they hold their shape and keep the bar tight and responsive. Less flex in the mounts means more consistent control mile after mile.

Easy Bolt-On Setup: No Drilling Required

The kit includes heavy-gauge mounting hardware, bushing lubricant, and clear instructions for a straightforward install. It bolts directly to the axle and frame—no drilling needed—so you can get it mounted and feel the improvement without modifying your chassis.

Minimize sway and driver fatigue by improving the stability and driveability of your vehicle. The bar on this sturdy, effective anti-sway system mounts to the rear axle and to the frame to balance weight transfer and reduce body roll.

by:

This anti sway bar, when combined with the steering stabilizer and rear sway bar completely changes the driving experience. The videos do not even accurately portray the difference this pairing makes. My RV is rock steady in the lane, and now has almost no impact from passing big rigs. Fatigue from driving is gone and one handed driving is the norm. The FIRST improvement that should be made to the F53 chassis and it's almost insane that this setup is not standard from the factory on RVs. Installed myself in the driveway.

by:

The installation of this, plus two other suspension components, has literally changed my RV driving experience for the better. Until these components were installed I dreaded the idea of traveling on any road where the RV would be exposed to passing 18-wheelers, crosswinds or oncoming large trucks. My class A (on the Ford F-53 chassis) was more than a handful to control... it was a nightmare to drive. Now it is a pleasure! We've been on two trips since installation, and the difference is unbelievable. If you have an RV siting on the Ford F-53 chassis, these suspension mods will change your life. We added the front anti-sway bar, the rear anti-sway bar, and the Reflex steering stabilizer. Perhaps the most rewarding investment I have made in a long time. Thanks to the Trailer team for putting together the perfect combination. I had everything installed by a local OTR truck service center, and installation was fast and very reasonable.

11/2022 we were forced to leave Florida running from Hurricane Nicole. With 25mph cross winds and +15mph gusts our 2016 Vista LX, 31 footer, was a handful to say the least. Without etrailers sway bars and bump stops we would have not been able to maintain our 50 to 55mph highway speed, better yet we probably would be in a ditch with other RV'S, 5th wheels and 18 wheelers. These items are amazing. I did have installed the Safe T Steer because etrailer was way behind on their steering stabilizer. Thanks you etrailer. BTW, if you are in the Indianapolis area I recommend Warner Springs on Bluff Rd. to do your install... Great people.

by:

Products (3 items) were shipped the same day I ordered and tracking of the order was exceptional. Customer service can't be beat. I asked questions via email and received a phone call from a tech to answer those questions. Possibly the best company I've ever dealt with when it comes to online purchases.

Still works great. Very noticeable improvement handling.

Roadmaster Rear Swaybar #1139-146
Purchased:
December 2019 Installed: March 2020
Installed on a 2017 Winnebago Vista 29VE
Once installed, along with the Roadmaster front sway bar #1139-140, I now have a Ferrari to drive. I already had a Safe-T-Steer installed but it is absolutely amazing how easy this unit now drives. Highly recommend especially to first timers an for us oldies.
Just a few installation comments.
The front bar was a piece of cake to install and done by myself in about 45 minutes. No more to be said.
The rear however (on my unit) wasn't as easy as the videos. Main issue was the 4 frame bolts that had to be removed. Neither my battery impact wrench, a friends Ingersoll Rand impact wrench or a 3/4" breaker bar with 6' of pipe would break them loose. Another friend had a brand new Matco Tools #27790 impact wrench that was spec'd at 1600ft/lbs that still after some hammering did they finally break free. Found similar issue on several post on some RV forums. The only other issue was I have to leave off the 'cut' washer that was supposed to be behind the button head screw (at the bottom of the shock mount) to be able to reconnect the shocks.
Other than that everything else was a piece of cake. Probably 2 hours to install and clean up once those 4 bolts were finally loosened.
Again would definitely recommend. Just get a good impact wrench.

by:

The install was Relatively easy. The instructions were clear. (Disclaimer I come from a diesel truck background). Probably the best improvement on handling and Tailwag Reduction I’ve done so far(rear sway bar).
So far I have done the Front steering stabilizer (this definitely improved drivability and allow the motorhome to go straight down the road). Then the sway bar on the rear, sumo springs on the front.
I still need to do more hopefully this year.

by:

The trial run proved to be very satisfactory.
The
product delivered a stable ride and in a cross wind was very effective in keeping the unit from swaying.
Very comfortable drive.

by:

The sway bar and bushings have worked wonderfully. I now am able to keep the motor home in my lane of travel when the wind is whipping it good or when the big trucks pass.
Working with etrailer.com was easy as pie, great people all the way around.

The roadmaster anti sway bar is a great product! Although I had someone else install it, it looked like an easy and clean install. It improved the drive ability and handling of our RV tremendously. I highly recommend this product to anyone driving a class A Rv.

Wonderful product and its smoothed out our RV ride less sway than ever before and it was simple to install.

by:

Thanks - a friend and I installed it over the weekend.  It has made steering much better... there is one dead spot that needs some tweeking when we can find some time but I didn't have the right tool to adjust further but he does.

by:

We find that our RV is more stable and handles better. Wind gusts have less effect on the track of the RV. Also, the wind gusts from large trucks are less troublesome. My wife drives all the time and she is very happy with the result. In addition to the anti sway bar, we installed steering stabilization and heavy duty shock absorbers.

We are still pleased with the product.

by:

This went on our 2019 Windsport 29M. Outside of a couple minor install issues (Breaking frame bolts loose and needing to remove washer on the buttonhead bolt so the shock would fit in) the purchase went great - CS was very helpful the part shipped and arrived quickly.
I just finished the test drive and there is a noticeable difference in stiffness I should mention we already had front and rear Sumo springs and Roadmaster steering stabilizer which are a huge improvement over the stock chassis but still wanted to improve the interstate semi push and unexpected wind gusts . So far so good.

Ive been asked to provide a 1 year update... After the past year I can sincerely say this addition is well worth the price for anyone trying to control roll on class A with F53 chassis. Sumos alone help but adding the rear sway bar makes driving so much more enjoyable.

by:

We were wanting to improve steering and ride on our 2013 Itasca Sunstar Motorhome. Crystal at Etrailer.com work with me to select the correct parts to upgrade the front sway bar, add a rear sway bar, add a steering stabilizer and Sumo Springs. McGee Commercial Tire & Service in Fort Myers, FL installed all the parts with a little over 9 hours of labor. Test driving the changes in a brisk cross wind showed us a much better ride, a more sold feel to the rig and better steering. All the parts arrive in a couple days and all were the correct parts for our unit. McGee did a very professional job of installation and I could not be happier.

We continue to be very pleased with the improvement in ride and steering of our motor home since the parts were added. It has made our travel more comfortable and safer due to the improvement in steering and stability.

by:

Eliminated 80% of wind problems. Instructions could be improved. The videos all used a lift which is not available for the average consumer. Might suggest an upgrade to torx head bolts instead of hex.

by:

Should have bought it earlier. Makes a huge difference in driving. It took the rock and roll out for sure. I had to leave off the inside washers on allen bolts to line up the shocks. Installed easily in 1.5hr. Pretreat bolts that need removing with penatraitor.

by:

etrailer is great. They helped me through the process. All of the products were great. Will use them a lot!

by:

We got the anti-sway bar installed today. It was fairly easy to install. It took us about two hours to install it. I will Let you know how it drives when we take it out next week.

by:

It was a noticeable improvement and I’m glad I got it.

by:

Etrailer is by far the BEST place to buy RV parts, period! I didn’t know that they have a price match guarantee, and if it is sold cheaper somewhere else, they will price match it!
Tannith saved me hundreds of $$$! Even on an order I placed the month before, because I was not aware of the price match!
I can’t say enough about their service, communication and dedication that you are getting the right part for your RV.
I will continue to do business with them because they are honest and dependable and provide great updates and communication!
Plus you get to talk to a real person when you call in, plus you can understand them!

Easy installation. Great video on YouTu be

by:

Massive improvement to handling and safety of our Winnebago 30'! Significant reduction in body roll and improved handling of cross winds. I no longer have to fight the steering wheel to stay within my lane, which should reduce fatigue over long trips. To me it is totally unacceptable that motorhome manufactures sell ill handling vehicles with stock F53 sway bars that were designed for much lighter applications such as service trucks.

Installation went pretty much as the video indicated with one exception that cost a lot of extra time. The lower hole in one of the shock brackets was a little small so when I screwed the supplied hardened bolt through it, it damaged the threads slightly. Enough that I couldn't torque the bolt all way down. Finding a replacement locally was impossible so I had to clean up the threads of the existing. Not sure why that happened since I only used light pressure on the allen wrench and didn't drive it through with a hammer.

by:

Definitely feel improvement in handling . Not as much side to side motion . Pricey but worth the investment. Front sway bar & steering stabilizer next! Great service & advice. Thanks!

by:

This unit completely changed the way this unit drives! Thank you etrailer!

by:

I would not believe all the hype online about the effect this anti-sway bar would have. But i must admit, the first drive convinced me right away it did make a difference. Those little grooves on the edge of the highway would always pull my RV off the lane. With this sway bar, the RV recovered very quickly.
