Replacement for Missing Spindle Washer Used with Bearing Kit BK1-150 and Castle Nut

Published 11/15/2023

Question:

Bk1-150 has the correct bearing, race, and seal but I dont think that washer will work. My dexter axle isnt the ez-lube model. It has just a castle nut and cotter pin. I think the previous own forgot to put the washer on. Or should the castle nut be up against the bearing? If it should have a washer do you know which one?

Expert Reply:

Your spindle should have a Washer # SW1000 between the outer bearing and the Spindle Nut # 165686. As this part is typically always reused that is the reason it is not included in the Bearing Kit # BK1-150. Instead we only include the cotter pin and D-washer since the cotter pin and D-washer can break. You will be able to discard the D-washer since you have the castle nut style spindle and do not need that part.
