Why Does Trailer Hitch for 2013 Ford Fusion Have Higher Towing Capacity than Vehicle
Published 09/14/2017 >
Question:
I have a 2013 Ford Fusion SE with 2.0L engine. You offer a class II hitch with capacity of 3500lb. But the car is only rated for 2000lb. And if you have a 1.6L or 2.5L, it is only rated for 1000lb. So I am confused how you offer a 3500lb hitch?

Our trailer hitches are designed with the towing capacity of the vehicle they are intended for in mind, but they are then rated separately which is why you'll see a lot of time our hitches having higher towing capacities than the vehicles they fit.
So we have the Curt hitch part # C12091 which is a great option that has a 3,500 lb towing capacity by itself, but when installed on your 2013 Ford Fusion it would have only the lower vehicle rating as the overall capacity.
