Question:
When dinghy towing a 2017 GMC Acadia Limited the owners manual says you need to remove 3 different fuses while towing. The owners manual states the following: To prevent the battery from draining while the vehicle is being towed, remove the 15 amp ECM fuse and the 15 amp OnStar fuse. These are in the battery compartment behind the passenger seat on the floor. Also, remove the 50 amp BATT1 fuse from the engine compartment fuse block and store all fuses in a safe location. See Engine Compartment Fuse Block 0 233. Can I add a charging system to charge the Acadia from the motorhome and avoid removing the fuses or do the fuses disable something that needs to be disabled?

Expert Reply:
When a vehicle's owner's manual says to remove fuses I definitely recommend abiding by it. GM requires the fuses be removed in order to disable specific functions that will operate while the Acadia is set up to be flat towed.
We do offer products to make the process easier whenever you're setting it up to be towed. The recommended FuseMaster bypass switches for your Acadia are # RM-76517 and # RM76514.
Also, for disconnecting the battery with a switch use # RM-766.
