Question:

Hello, Can recommend a Timbren rear suspension that would be best for my 2010 4WD Tacoma carrying a 1000lb camper. With cargo and people I will be about 300lbs overweight. Thank you.

There are a few different options that we have for you to install a Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System on your 2010 Toyota Tacoma that is 4WD. Please keep in mind that any suspension enhancement system will not increase your weight capacity. It is meant to supplement a suspension system that is in good working order. You should never exceed the weight-carrying capacity of your vehicle.

If you plan on driving places that might not have a road then I recommend going with the Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops # TABSOSR which are meant to be used on vehicles without the U-Bolt Flip Kit. Part # TABSTRFK is the option that includes the U-Bolt Flip Kit for more ground clearance.

If you will be traveling on roads the entire time then I recommend going with a different option. If your Tacoma has 3 Leaf Springs then you will want part # TTORTUN4L, but if it has 4 Leaf Springs you will want to go with part # TTORTUN4 instead.

I highly recommend adjusting what equipment that you are taking with you so that it does not exceed the capacity of your Tacoma as well since that could damage more than just the suspension system.

You actually might want to consider installing a transmission cooler, like part # D13503, to help keep your engine from overheating. I have attached some helpful articles about transmission coolers that you can check out for more information.
