Question:
The pinhole on the rack is 4 from the end. Please let me know if it will fit into this extender. Is there a shorter extender that will accommodate my rack? I currently have a 7-3/4 extender with an overall length of 13 inches and the rack pinhole is 1/2 short of lining up with the extender pinhole when it is ed as far as it will go.

The Advantage SportsRack Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches - 11" Long Item # HE6000 measures approximately 4-3/4 inches from the center of the pin hole closest to the receiver opening to the end of the receiver portion of the extender and 6-3/4 inches from the face of the receiver to the end of the opening. I made a picture to help illustrate this.
Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 8" Long Item # C45791 is shorter and could work for you. It is approximately 5 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the receiver portion.
Please note that the use of an extender reduces the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. That may not be a problem with a kayak and carrier but just keep that in mind for any future load you might want to carry when using the extender.
