Updated 05/26/2017 | Published 05/25/2017

Question:

I have a 2013 spark ls. I want to be able to put a cargo carrier on but i also want the option to pull a mini trailer. What would be the best hitch for me?

If you do not have ground effects on your 2013 Spark the trailer hitch I recommend is the Curt Class I Reciever Hitch # C11334. Since this is a Class l hitch, it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

If you have the ground effects then there is no hitch showing for your vehicle.

The Curt hitch part # C11334 requires the use of stabilizer straps like part # 18050 for any non-trailer items installed in the hitch.

I did some research and on page 9-38 of the owner's manual it states the vehicle is not designed to tow a trailer.

The cargo carrier I recommend is the Pro Series # 63155. This carrier measures 49-1/2 long x 21-1/2 wide x 5-1/2 tall. This carrier has a shank rise of 3-inches for better ground clearance.

You will need a hitch pin and clip to secure the carrier in the hitch. I recommend part # PC2.

If you find that the cargo blocks your tail lights you will need a light kit on the carrier. I recommend part # 98174LED. This kit is designed to work with the carrier I recommended, and it has LED lights which are brighter than incandescent.

If you do not have a 4-way trailer connector on your Spark I recommend part # HM11141120. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for this harness on a Spark you can check out.
