It took a little more time and work than I had hoped it would to open up the holes. Even so I would say it was an easy installation and should work great for our intend use which is only to mount a bike rack.
I received the hitch receiver yesterday and installed it in about 2 hours. The instructions were OK but the video was excellent! It took a little longer because I installed it in our 2014 Spark 2LT. On this model the rear of the car is different than the other models and I had to cut out a section of the back plastic around the receiver.
use a dremel tool with a metal cutting bit to remove the least amount of metal necessary. did not remove the muffler hitch wriggled behind it with nothing more that a swear word or two. hardware was quality. pin didn't fit but that was just a little paint in the hole. not towing with it. just using it to haul handicap scooter. very pleased with hitch and ease of install. took about 1/2 hr.

I bought this for my Spark to add a bike rack. The etrailer did an awesome job getting the order to me in a timely fashion and the hitch was attached without removing the muffler brackets. Great company, great instructions, great products all make for a great experience.
Worked out great. Local auto shop installed the hitch for $110 dollars. They watched the video first. Now traded car for honda Fit and want to install another hitch for bikes.Thanks
I’m pretty disappointed to be honest with you. It says bolt on ready. But then when the hitch showed up it then says I need to drill larger holes into the frame of my car. I’m going to attempt to put it on again this weekend but it has turned out to be a much bigger job than any hitch previously purchased from etrailer. I have put one on nearly every car I’ve owned.
Sturdy hitch that fits perfect BUT be forewarned that you have to make to holes in the frame slightly larger. Instructions say to use a Dremel. Unfortunately the hole is located right where the bumper bracket attaches so the metal is very thick and doubled up. After a failed attempt with a unibit I struggled with a die grinder for quite a while until the holes were large enough to get the plate and bolt up though the opening. Instructions say 20 to 45 minutes to install. It took quite a bit longer because of the hole grinding. I don't own a Dremel but I have a hard time thinking that would make it any easier than a die grinder. Again though the hitch fits great and was well worth the price and the effort.
Just finished the install on a 2015 Spark. No need to drop the exhaust just turn the hitch slightly and you can weasel it thru. Used a Dremel with a cylindrical grinder bit to elongate the holes. It's a little slower than a drill bit, but no scraped knuckles :). also...if you do use the Dremel be sure to have extra bits handy, pretty much used up the entire bit. Thanks etrailer for another quality hitch with clear, easy to follow install instructions...well done!
i am mechanically inclined so i saved the cost of having a professional install the hitch by installing it myself. plus the video instructions on the web with a step by step procedure helped. used the hitch last summer to tow a light load and had no problems. only used it a couple of times this spring, still no problems.
Installed the hitch with no issues -seems to be very good quality materials -fit and finsh second to none. Looks great on my 2014 Spark.The wiring harness went very well also. I took my time and followed the directions and now I have my car equipped to tow my trailer from hitch to wiring harness.I am just over 60 years of age and I enjoyed this mounting process very well. A+ for some nice quality products that work well.
I have never installed a trailer hitch before, and got this onto my '15 spark with no problems.
I had a conical bit designed to drill metal, but widening the holes was still a challenge. I drilled at an angle, rather than straight in, and that seemed to work better.
The instructions say lifting the hitch is a 2 person job. I managed to keep one side in place with my jack and get the bolts started on the other side. No need to undo the exhaust hangars, you can fit the hitch around it.
Have good drill bits and metal rotary files to enlarge/widen the holes makes the job easier to be done in no more than 2 hours.

Just installed it! The installing took about half a day, and that’s for two people who know very little about cars and had the tools (drills, wrenches, etc). The instructions video was extremely helpful and easy to follow. We didn’t take the exhaust off either. Once that was one we added the actual bike rack and it was awesome! Can’t wait to start taking my bike everywhere!
Now we all know our spark isn’t the car to be towing a huge boat or anything of the sort but it’s one mighty fine car to get you anywhere on the cheap with it’s great mpg. I purchased this hitch for a hitch bicycle mount and I must say this is greatest add on I’ve put on this car to get my bicycles on and off. The quality of the hitch is great and it does the job just great
This hitch was easy to install on our 2013 chevy spark- took a little while to get the hole drilled big enough for the screw and plate to go in but other than that it was a breeze- didnt even have to take off the muffler to do it.
It took my husband and I an afternoon to do it. We are very pleased with product and would buy it again.

Excellent - wouldn’t be without it
I bought this hitch not for trailer towing but for accessories. I got a luggage basket that I made for it. And another item I made use on it. It was easy to install and the video on etrailer was a big help. This is the second hitch I bought from there. And I will by another.
