Question:

What is the difference between the two trailer wiring harness that are available for this model vehicle? C55347 Curt and HM11141185 Hopkins appear to be the same harness but varying price points? Does one have an advantage over the other such as wire gauge, length, relay, etc? I just want to be sure I understand what is the best option for my money and longevity.

The trailer wiring harnesses for your 1996 Chevy Caprice sedan, # C55347 from Curt and # HM11141185 from Hopkins are very similar. Both install and function the same way. About the only difference is the Hopkins harness comes with a little packet of dielectric grease. You could add dielectric grease # LT37534 if you wanted to go with the Curt harness. Either one will work for you though. If it were me I would go with the Curt harness since it costs less and has a 1-year warranty whereas the Hopkins has a 90 day warranty.
