Features to know about

Add Handy Towing Power: Class II Strength with 3,500 lbs Capacity

This Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver gives you the ability to tow light trailers or hook up smaller gear without overdoing it. Rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs, it handles small campers, cargo haulers, and utility trailers with confidence. The 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening makes it easy to connect compatible accessories like ball mounts, bike racks, or cargo carriers when you need extra hauling space.

Simplify Install Projects: Bolt-On Design with No Welding Required

Installing this hitch at home is straightforward thanks to its custom-fit design and bolt-on mounting setup. It lines up with existing attachment points so you can skip drilling or welding. The complete hardware kit and installation instructions are included, which means you can get it on the vehicle using basic tools. With its precision robotic welding, the fit is accurate and solid once it’s in place.

Keep It Looking Good: Durable Steel with Gloss Black Powder Coat

The sturdy square-tube steel construction is coated in a gloss black powder finish laid over a protective base coat. That double-layer protection helps resist rust and corrosion even after seasons of road use. The finish also gives the hitch a clean look under the bumper instead of a rough aftermarket appearance.

Ready for a Range of Accessories: Use with Drawbar, Pin and Clip (Sold Separately)

Whether you’re setting up for towing or adding storage capacity, this receiver works with standard Class II accessories so you can configure it to your needs. Use it with a drawbar, pin, and clip (each sold separately) to complete your towing setup. It’s a simple way to bring more utility to your vehicle when you want to haul gear or trailers safely and securely.

Great customer service. Product was delivered 1 day ahead of schedule, Thank you. Installation went well and we used the hitch the next day for our trip. Very well engineered. I would recommend this company to anyone.

by:

center bolt in bottom of chrome bumper must be removed and discarded. Hitch makes a nice clean look on my elcamino.

by:

Fit my 1981 Chevrolet Malibu Station Wagon, although it is not advertised to fit. From what I understand, all G-Body frames are the same. Perhaps it won’t fit with the original exhaust. Hitch receiver came slightly bent and scuffed, but it’s the nature of shipping a giant chunk of steel in a cardboard box. Shipped fast. Used with Curt 45520 ball mount.

by:

DID NOT FIT my 1979 el camino. These were on back order because they were out of stock. My guess is an assembly screw up or they are trying to save money by using less steel. You can see from my attached photo's that the receiver hits the bottom of the bumper preventing the outward mounts from lining up for correct installation ! Customer service would not rely when i emailed the problem with picture's. DO NOT BUY FROM ETRAILER !

I did reach out to Curt and this hitch does not fit if the bumper has been modified or replaced with an after-market bumper.

  • Dimensions for Curt Class I Trailer Hitch # C12005
Hey Paul! Awesome, awesome ride... So I went out to our warehouse to take those measurements on the Curt Class I Hitch # C12005. The outer mounting bolts measured 54-1/2" apart, on center, while the inner bolts measured 50-1/2" apart, on center. From the center of the rear mounting hole to the front mounting hole, I measured a distance of 13-3/4". The rear mounting holes are spaced apart by 52-1/2", center to center. I attached a diagram I made to clarify those dimensions as well. I...

  • Curt Trailer Hitch Location When Mounted On 1986 Chevrolet El Camino
When installing the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C12005, the top of the receiver tube is 1-3/8 inches from the mounting holes the trailer hitch is attached to. I have attached a page from the installation instructions you can check out that shows where the hitch is installed. There is an EA unit(Bumper shock) on the end of the frame and there are two holes right below the unit. That is where the trailer hitch is attached. The top of the receiver is about an inch or a little more below those...

  • What is the Metal Thickness of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for a 1985 Chevy El Camino
The metal thickness, or wall thickness, of the cross tube of Curt trailer hitch # C12005 is 1/4 inch. The brackets on the sides of the hitch are obviously thicker even than that, 3/8 if an inch or so. The thickness measurement can vary slightly because of the powder coating. This hitch is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 300 pounds tongue weight. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you plan on doing some towing the correct ball mount to use...

  • What is needed for a complete towing package on a 1980 ElCamino
The Curt Trailer Hitch, # C12005, for your El Camino does not come with the needed accessories to get you started towing. You will need the following items. Drawbar number 36061, Hitch Ball 19258 (2 inch) or 19256(1-7/8 inch), a pin and clip and a 4-way wiring harness kit 18252 to hardwire your vehicle for towing. I have posted links to these items below with current pricing.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic
The Curt Class II Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12005 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Classic with RWD. This Class II hitch has a maximum tongue weight of 350 pounds and a maximum trailer weight of 3,500, although I recommend also checking the vehicle's capacities as listed in the owner's manual, as this will most likely be the limiting factor. This is a custom-fit trailer hitch so no drilling will be required during installation. I have...
