2020 Lincoln MKZ

As always, piece of cake due to a perfect hardware kit (including the fish wires) and nice YouTube installation video! Thank you!

Product is solid and installation was straightforward. Product is used exclusively for bicycle rack.
If you don’t have a second set of hands available for installation, zip tying receiver hitch to hydraulic jack works well :)

2015 Lincoln MKZ

2015 Lincoln MKZ 2.0 AWD- fits perfectly. I installed this with help of a friend, as others said it's best to have help holding it up under vehicle. I backed the car up on ramps to get underneath, removed the plastic rear thing near bumper. Once this was out, I was able to use the guide wire with bolts/nuts to get through frame. I got it all tight, couldn't fit my torque wrench to properly tighten but I just tightened very tight. Just went out with 2 bikes on a Yakima hanger rack and it worked well, I bought a hitch stabilizer at harbor freight to make sure it didn't wiggle. Looks good too! Thank you etrailer and Curt for decent videos and instructions.

2016 Ford Fusion

Ordering process, communications, and delivery were very good. The class II hitch fit my 2016 Fusion perfectly, no adjustments (i.e. filing, etc) were necessary. The hitch feels very sturdy but was not too heavy for me to handle by myself.

I have done business with etrailer.com for a number of years. Installing four different trailer hitches on different vehicles. The directions and video installation guides are awesome, I have never had an issue with installation. The fish wires are especially useful, turning a challenging installation into a super easy one!

2015 Ford Fusion

The Curt hitch #C12091 is a very well made piece. It fits perfectly under my 2015 Ford Fusion. It's a great design, in that it fits up under the car except for just the receiver tube and chain loops. Most people would not even notice it.

It's sturdy, solid, has nice welds, and has a very nice powder coat.

You do need to remove the plastic panel under the rear to make room for the hitch. This took less than 5 minutes with a socket on a cordless driver. Some have expressed concern about not putting the panel back into place after the install. The hitch takes up most of the space though. I have driven at highway speeds since the install and I cannot detect any difference in wind noise or any rattle / shake noise from anything catching any wind back there.

I did the install by myself with the car on the ground. I had a slight slant to the driveway helping me a bit. But there's room to install the hitch without raising the car if you want. The bolt guides are absolute genius! Watch etrailer's install video. It really is that easy! After threading the blocks and bolts through the holes, I was able to lift one side of the hitch up and start the two bolts on that side loosely. Then I raised the other side and started those bolts. Then just snug it all up.

I used a 1/2 inch drive torque wrench that's about 2 feet long to torque the bolts. And when laying down on your side under the car, it can be tough to get enough leverage to get the wrench to click! If you don't have the right tools for that part, I would suggest you just tighten the bolts as well as you can with a wrench, then stop in at a local tire place and ask if they can torque them for you. (Obviously, don't use the hitch for hauling until you get it torqued correctly!)

I've used mine several times already and it's a great product!
(The pics show the hitch used with a Swagman two bike rack - which etrailer also sells - and is an awesome rack! Even with the weird frame of the Cannondale Super V 2000)

Shipping: I've used etrailer several times and they have always had my stuff to me fast. Faster than expected sometimes! This time was a little different. I hadn't heard from them after the initial order for over a week. I had ordered the hitch and a strap made by Curt to help secure a bike rack. The items showed in stock, so I called to see why it hadn't shipped. The lady was very nice and explained that the strap was out of stock and they were waiting on that to ship the hitch. I asked if she could have the hitch shipped so I could get it installed, and they could send the strap whenever. She said that they could do that and the hitch went out that day. Oddly, when I got the hitch, the strap was in the box also. I was surprised they didn't email me during the initial time to tell me what was up. But their customer service has always been so good, I may be holding them to a higher standard than I would compared to other companies out there that you never hear from at all!

All in all, great product (#C12091), from a great manufacturer (Curt), from a great online provider (etrailer.com)!

Thanks!

Really impressed! Installed this on my 2020 Fusion. 30 minutes working by myself though I had the advantage of a lift. Honestly, it would not have been much harder doing this on the ground. Excellent powdercoat finish on it, packed well and no scratches. Clear instructions and even had Grad 8 hardware.

I'm very happy with this trailer hitch receiver, and with the fast and friendly service from etrailer.com!

I haven't actually used it for anything yet, as I just put it on yesterday, but it seems very solid, it was easy to install, and as you can see from the photos, it is very unobtrusive once installed. Almost all of it is hidden behind the bumper, which is one of the things I liked about this hitch receiver. I got it to hold a bicycle rack, and when I don't have the rack installed, I like that you can barely see there is a trailer hitch on the car.

The photos and videos on the website were very helpful in showing how it would look on my car, and explaining how it was installed. I was able to do it by myself in 90 minutes, which includes the time it took me to get the tools out and put them away. It would have gone easier/quicker if I had someone to help me raise it into position while I threaded the nuts on, but I was able to rig up some supports to help me hold it in place. That was actually the hardest part, so if you have a helper, that will be good.

I think I might have been able to do the job without raising the back end, but it would have been tight. I used some ramps, and that gave me more room to work. Ramps, or jack stands, or some kind of lift would definitely be helpful. And I rented a torque wrench from the local auto parts store, as I didn't own one. The installation was pretty straightforward, as shown on the very helpful videos on this website.

Thanks etrailer.com! I will definitely be back here for other trailer-related needs.

Still working great! I have been using it to carry a bicycle rack, with one or two bikes on it. It does a fine job, and I have had no issues with it.

by:

I ordered this product and it arrived in 2 days. It was exactly as described and it fits perfectly.
The installation was very simple thanks to the video with the instructions they uploaded. For me it took more than 20 minutes because I installed it myself and I did not lift the car that much. I used a car jack to lift the car about 30cm off the ground. The hard part was until I managed to screw the first nut, after that the hitch stood in place and I could screw all the other very easy.

Pros:
- price (lower compared to other offers I had)
- durable
- nice look and finish
- very easy to install, you can do it yourself - hardware included (not the wrench)

Cons:
- it requires the removal of the wind deflector

This product may have other pros / cons different from the ones listed above; however, this is what I experienced so far.

I definitely recommend this hitch.

I can't work on cars as much as I used to, (getting old) but this hitch was in and completed in about 45 minutes. The only help I needed was the wife helped me lift it up into place holding one end up for a couple minutes with the guide wires through the holes in the hitch while I put one nut on my side. Then she left as I grabbed the side she lifted and stuck another loose nut on. It is best to leave the pull/guide wires on the bolts when lifting it up to prevent losing a bolt into the frame channel. They give you 4 pull guide wires just so you can do that. The help isn't for the weight but more so to make it easier to put the guide wires through the hitch holes as you raise it up into place. For one person it would be awkward. One thing is the directions.
If not looked at carefully one might place the rectangular thick steel washers on the outside of the channel. Note that those washers are actually backing and strengthening plates for the frame channel and also keep the bolt from turning while tightening the nut and go """inside the channel""". Using the pull wires feed them through the access hole first before the bolt and they go in fairly easy. The bolt will pull back into them and through the frame fastening holes without a hitch. (not to use a pun here)
That said installation was a breeze

How was it removing the underbody panel? Im apprehensive about permanently removing something from a brand new vehicle. Is it noticeable visually? Any road noiseother issue? Just looking for some reassurance that removing this panel has no effect aesthetically or otherwise. Thanks!

Great support,if and when needed! Installation process very easy... simple with help! I undercoated all exposed areas the shield protected then installed the hitch. Took me an hour not rushing. Then I decided to cut down the heat shield so I could install it to complete the job to 110% satisfaction.

The hitch is still doing its job and the finish is holding up.

by:

Although Ford does not recommend ANY towing on a Fusion Hybrid, I installed this hitch in order to facilitate using a hitch platform for my 95 year old mother's wheelchair. Install was easy, if not identical to the hitch I installed on a 2013 Ford C-Max. No drilling and 'fishing' four bolts was easy. The most difficult step in the install was lifting and aligning the receiver to the bolts, which I did accomplish single handed with assistance from a floor jack. Even without the plastic shield everything is secure under the vehicle.

2019 Ford Fusion

Easy install, took less than an hour. Love that it is hidden under the car/bumper BUT my 1/4”-2” 5” raised extender is too short. Will need to get the 7” 1 14” etrailer extension to make it work.

I am glad that you like the hitch. You mentioned that you would need a different extender and I wanted to give you some information. For part # e93YR, from the pin hole to the back of the upright adapter it is approximately 3 inches so you would want to measure to make sure it would fit for your needs. There is also a straight adapter, part # e43YR, and the distance from center pin hole to center pin hole is 6.5 inches. Keep in min that using the adapter will the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. This will be important when it comes to the weight of the bike rack and bikes.

by:

The hitch fit my car perfectly would give 5 stars but one of the 4 bolts that mounted to my frame had a bad bur that keep the bolt from threading in well which in this situation is super awkward positions.

by:

Easy to install, great product! The video was very helpful, the video was for my exact car and the guide wire worked great.

by:
2017 Ford Fusion

Easy to install. The only tricky part is mounting the actual hitch to the vehicle (its heavy and awkward). Would definitely recommend having a second person (or 2 additional people) to assist with this step.

I was able to re-install the underbody panel. I trimmed the ends off each side with a jigsaw so the panel sits inside the width of the hitch when installed. I used a rotary tool to remove the six plastic ribs on the underbody side of the panel so it can sit flush when the hitch is installed. Per the manufacture's recommendations and many reviews, it is not necessary to re-install underbody panel but I thought I would give it a shot, and it turned out great.

Overall a great looking concealed hitch. I only plan to use for bike rack (no trailering).

I recommend etrailer.

by:

Perfect fit, wonderful instructions complete with install video. This is my second hitch from etrailer.

Highly recommend!

by:

Both hitch and bike rack delivered 3 days earlier. Hitch was very easy to install even without lifting the car. I did it in the street where my car is parked in front of my house. I’m a 76-year old man and it took me 1 hour and 25 minutes including watching the video which was very helpful. Luckily my 2019 Ford Fusion needs NO DRILLING. With no help and I did it all by myself I put hitch on top of two hollow blocks on both ends to make it closer to the 4 bolts. I have most of the needed tools but 7mm and torque wrench which I bought immediately. Ellen was very helpful in making sure that the hitch will fit my car

2016 Ford Fusion

This hitch worked out great on my 2016 Ford Fusion. The etrailer installation videos were really helpful, and the Curt hitch is hidden well behind the rear bumper. Install was done by myself in 40 minutes without jacking up the car. Hard to tell theirs even a hitch on the car.

by:

I just completed the install of the curt hitch on my 2017 Ford Fusion se.
Let me begin by saying, I didn’t want to do this. My car is fully customized and I show it in location and national events, the last thing I wanted to do is mount a trailer hitch in this car. But we were blessed to have our family grow and I still want to go to shows in other states, so this hitch was nessary.
The kit comes with absolutely everything you need for a smooth and trouble free install, the bolt threading wires are a god send.
This was a 2 out of 10 on difficulty scale only because I did it by myself and had to hold the hitch up with one hand while I put the nuts on with the other.
The hitch is beautifully painted and wrapped for shipping, boxed in a rough secure package.
The tong hangs just below the rear plastic bumper and doesn’t look terrible on my car.
My car is equipped with air ride and I’m thinking of hooking a drag block to the bottom of the bar to throw sparks when going down the highway.
If you need one I suggest you buy this hitch .

by:

Instructions rate this as "moderately" difficult. It's really very easy. If you can jack a car up and support it, you can put this hitch on. It's 4 bolts. Instruction video suggests a helper to support the hitch while bolting up. I didn't have one but managed easily myself. Really a simple install. Nicely finished hitch. Most is hidden under car. Only square receiver visible. Fish wires supplied with hitch are the key to this easy install. Very nice build quality on hitch, good welds, nice black painted finish. Hitch will be used for bike rack, light towing and cargo rack on a 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium.

  • Difference Between Class I and Class II Hitches that Fit 2020 Ford Fusion
The Draw Tite hitch pat # 24897 is a Class I hitch which has the weld stop in the tube that prevents Class II hitch accessories from fitting. So what you really need to do is determine if the accessories you have are Class I compatible or not. If they are this hitch fits and does not require any measuring to confirm. If not, this hitch would not work for you. For your 2020 Ford Fusion we have a Class II hitch available like the # C12091 which would work either way.

  • Towing Capacity of a 2016 Ford Fusion SE and Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 2015 Ford Fusion Energi
Officially we have to recommend that you always stay with the recommendation of the manufacturer on towing as they are who the warranty of the vehicle is with and they are who would have tested the vehicle for towing. That being said we realize that a lot of people ignore their owners manual and tow with vehicles that aren't designed for it and allegedly do not have any problems. So our hitch manufacturers make hitches for these vehicles as there is a demand for them but it's a situation...

  • Can the Lower Body Fascia be Reinstalled with Curt Trailer Hitch # C12091 on 2013 Ford Fusion
It is not recommended to reinstall the lower body fascia with the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch, # C12091, on your 2013 Ford Fusion Titanium because of the final position of the hitch once it is installed. It may be possible to mount the fascia with the hitch installed, but you will have to do extensive trimming to make it fit with the hitch. The side mounting brackets, crosstube and receiver sit in the same location as the lower body fascia, so you would basically have to cut around the...

  • Using 2 Inch Receiver For a Bike Rack Versus Using a 1-1/4 to 2 Inch Receiver Adapter
The problem with using an adapter is that it will lower the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50%, and also, because there will be an intermediate piece installed in between the receiver hitch and the hitch mounted bike rack, you're going to have more bounce and movement in your bike rack. Additionally, if you're using hitch locks, you'll need a You would certainly save some money by going with the Curt Class II # C12091 hitch over the # 306-X7239 EcoHitch, but you'll need to purchase...

  • Torque Specs for 1/2 Inch Installation Bolts of Curt Class II Receiver Hitch on 2014 Ford Fusion
We do not publish the torque specs for the hardware used in the hitch installations because the hitch manufacturers will occasionally change the hardware included with the hitch which in many cases will change the proper torque spec. Therefore, we simply refer folks to the installation instructions which the hitch manufacturers do a great job of keeping current. The Class II trailer hitch for your 2014 Fusion is part # C12091, and you can see the torque spec in step # 5 of the instructions...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid
I would recommend you go with a Class II hitch over a Class I hitch. The capacities will be higher and more hitch accessory options will be available. For example, with a Class I hitch you can only carry up to 2 bikes, whereas with a Class II you can carry up to 4. I attached a help article that covers the differences between hitch classes for you to check out as well. For a hitch I would recommend the Curt Hitch part # C12091. This is a Class II hitch that would work well towing a trailer...
