How to Use Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap on Toyota Prius V with Rear Spoiler
Updated 04/20/2017 | Published 04/19/2017 >
Question:
I have a Curt 1 1/4 hitch to carry a Saris 2 bike platform rack. I have a Curt Bike Rack Support strap, #18050 to use with the hitch and rack. My question: I have a Toyota Prius V. It has a spoiler on top of the rear window. If I hook the strap on top of the window, it must pass over that spoiler. Im concerned about rubbing or too much weight on the spoiler. Could I hook the strap on the bottom of the rear hatch? It seems that it would accomplish the same thing, i.e. steadying the bike rack.

To use the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap # 18050 on your Toyota Prius that has a rear spoiler, I recommend simply running the strap to the lower edge of the hatch door. As you referenced in your question, this will still provide the required support for your bike rack and trailer hitch. You will then just lower the attachment point of the strap on the bike rack to the upright mast.
I have also attached a video demonstration of this strap for you to check out.
