Expert Reply:
Curt 2-inch Class III hitch # 13077 is a confirmed fit on all versions of the 2017 BMW X5, including the M version. I confirmed this with Curt. Mounting it on this vehicle will be fairly involved as hitch installs go, and significant trimming of the rear fascia is required.
All non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing strap # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from CURT.
