Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2017 Lincoln MKC and Tips for Routing Wiring Harness Power Wire

Question:

purchased a 2017 Lincoln MKC and would like to be able to tow a light trailer. i purchased hitch and wiring from your company for another vehicle and the wiring was fairly easy. from what i understand for the Lincoln, a wire must be attached to the battery. my question is how does the wire wind up in the cargo area? i was able to read from your article about installation that the previous years wiring needed to run a wire from the battery. is that still the case and what is the level of difficulty. thank you. i am looking at the Curt Hitch C13194 and Wiring C56262

Curt trailer wiring harness # C56262 does require a direct connection to the battery on your 2017 Lincoln MKC. The battery will actually be powering the trailer lights and helps protect the vehicle wiring and electrical system.

The wiring harness comes with additional wire and connectors to run the power wire from the battery to the wiring harness converter. How the power wire is run is up to you. I have linked a help article with tips on routing the power wire.

Trailer hitch # C13194 is a good choice for the vehicle. I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
