This harness tucks in neatly behind the cargo-area panels, keeping everything out of sight and protected. The plug-in design connects directly to existing factory wiring, so there’s no splicing or cutting. It’s a tidy install that looks like it came from the factory.
Instead of pulling power from the vehicle’s lighting circuits, this kit uses a powered converter that connects straight to the battery. The converter isolates and protects the vehicle wiring while providing consistent power to the trailer lights. That direct battery feed means your vehicle’s electrical system stays safe and stable.
The 4-pole flat connector gives you exactly what you need for towing—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights. It’s the standard setup for most small and mid-size trailers, and it pairs easily with existing trailer plugs and accessories.
Everything you need to complete the job is in the box, including the extra wire and connectors to run the power line from the battery to the converter. Whether you route it under the vehicle or through trim channels, this kit makes it straightforward to add trailer lighting safely and cleanly.

Perfect fit mkc linoln
Easy to install. Great addition to my M KC
Quick and easy install with great direc tions.
product is as described. Phone help very knowledgeable.
Not easy at all. Did not fit as described on my vehicle, was actually made for previous year model. To complete install had to take to a shop for them to make the power connection. Otherwise it works fine, but definitely not easy as described.
Fast delivery, well packaged A+++
Hitch is great use it all the time for my bike
I don't do reviews but you deserve the thumbs up. From the initial order (on a Sunday evening) the rep was informative and patient. Updates of the delivery process were automatic without even asking. The video's and product overview were amazing. I retired from Ford Motor Company so I know my vehicles. This is along with the harness kit are excellent products.
The most important part of this item is the excellent instructions, which made installation a breeze.
The wiring kit requires a power wire ran directly to the battery. I had some difficulty finding an adequate place to safely run wire.
The video on the etrailer website is priceless. Made the install go smooth. Everything you need was included and it took about 45 minutes from start to finish. Take your time identifying wire colors in your vehicle as those can be tricky...
This was the fourth wiring kit I have installed. It was by far the hardest. The ad implies it is plug and play. And it does plug in after adding splicing clips to the wiring. It does not plug into a pre-existing wiring harness plug as the kit for my 2006 Mercury Mariner did. The wiring also calls for a connection to the battery and provides a long black wire to do so, which was extremely difficult.
I completed all my connections and tested the system. It worked well. So I reassembled the rear side panels and trunk area as the instructions said. Apparently I pinched or pulled loose a connection, as after reassembly the wiring no longer worked. I will trace it another day. I rate this kit as difficult and I have done many others. I would not purchase this kit again.
The installation took a while to perform neatly - the directions were excellent, identifying the color the wires I needed to find in my MKC to make all of the brake, turn and marker lights on my sailboat trailer work correctly. I did break one piece of trim, but it is hardly noticeable.
My hitch and wire kit shipped fast. I was kept up to speed on when it shipped. The wiring kit was not the correct one and etrailer shipped the correct one right away and provided a pre-paid label for the return of the incorrect one. The hitch is high quality and looks great and I saved $300 from the OEM one. Directions for installation are right on and easy to follow.
In my book I would recommend etrailer to everyone
The kit on its own is 5 stars but man was this a hard install on my 2017 Lincoln MKC. Unlike the last one I did on another vehicle, this install some major work! You have to remove a bunch of interior trim which I have a little experience with but if you are new to that, it is fairly easy to mess stuff up if you are not careful.
And, while most kits just plug into the existing taillight wiring, because of the way the wiring runs on the MKC, you actually have to tap into wires. The kit has the right fittings to do this fairly easily without any cutting but getting to the wires is tough. It was really hard to find a way to get the power wire out of the interior to run it up to the battery. On many lighting kits, the wiring is done behind the tail lights so you are already "outside" the body so there are passages all over the place to get the power wire down under the car and off to the front. The MKC wiring you're tapping into is inside the body and man is that car sealed up well! I ended up poking a stiff wire through an existing grommet and fishing the power wire through that way. That was not covered in the instructions - just a simple "run wire to battery" step with no detail. I was able to use my wire fish thing to loop the wire through the sill trim as there is a passage behind each mounting point and that did make running the wire up to the front very easy and quick once I got it outside the body. If you don't go that route, I did not see anywhere else to secure the wire. The underside of the MKC is flat and featureless unless you jack it up and get to the very middle.
So, if you've done this before in 20 minutes on another vehicle, be advised it is not going to go that quick on an MKC! While when I did this before it was definitely a DIY job for just about anybody, on this vehicle, the wiring is an advanced job (the hitch itself was way easier though so I guess it balanced out ;-)
Thanks for a great product! The directions were clear, concise, and accurate. All the needed parts were included in the kit, and installation was completed the day the kit was delivered. So easy, even a senior citizen like me was able to do it! If I ever have to perform this task again, I'll be coming back to etrailer.com.
I am very satisfied with this trailer wiring kit from Etrailer. The directions were VERY specific for my vehicle and were easy to follow with great photos. Very satisfied!

It hasnt worked since installing it. The Curt kit may be fine, but the wires for led vehicle lighting are so small that they are hard to work with, and impossible to discern stripes on solid colors to differentiate individual wires. Arrange for a professional installer, is my advice, but Curts installation instructions should also be clearer and more precise. Looked easy, but after initial hook up, only one trailer light has worked. Where in the wire loom is vital, and Curts illustrations leave much to be desired.
