Question:
How to extract key in unlock position that will not turn even after spraying with lubricant
asked by: Tony
Expert Reply:
Stuck keys are at times very difficult to remove, even after spraying lubricant. We have heard that some people have luck using a paperclip along side the stuck key to free it by wiggling it.
You could try using a pair of pliers or vise grip to pull the key out of the lock.
As a final resort you may have to get a locksmith to help. They may need to drill out the old key but should be encouraged to try and keep from damaging the lock core.
If the lock core needs to be replaced, you can order a replacement, part # Y8771-A137. For this lock core the key # Y8772-A137 would need to be ordered separately.
