How Does The Hitch Pin For The Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack Work?

Hello, I bought a yakima ridgeback 2 from an elderly couple. the rack has not even been used. i have a subaru with a 1 1/4inch hitch. the hitch pin from yakima does not even go all the way through the receiver. any help would be

Hey Brian, thanks for reaching out. The Yakima RidgeBack 2 # Y02457 uses a proprietary hitch pin that attaches to only one side of the receiver. It isn't designed to go all the way thru the shank and receiver. I've included a picture of what that looks like.
Basically, you insert the hitch pin, then tighten the speed knob then you are good to go. The pin doesn't need to go all the way thru.
Does your rack look like the one in the pictures I included?
