When deciding on a weight distribution system for your vehicle and trailer you will need to know what your total loaded ready-to-tow trailer tongue weight. The total tongue weight will include the weight of a loaded trailer, plus any weight of any cargo you may have loaded the rear axle of your vehicle.

I have linked an article that will explain how to find the total tongue weight between your trailer and vehicle.

Now if your trailer's Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) is 8000 lbs and you have a light amount of cargo in the truck, then the probable tongue weight will usually be 10 to 15 percent of the GTW. In this case between 800-1200 lbs.

If your total tongue weight falls within the rage of 800-1200 lbs, then for your application I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution and Sway Control, # FA92-00-1200. The Fastway system will handle tongue weights up to 1200 lbs. This weight distribution system also includes 2 integrated points of sway control to help limit side-to-side trailer movement. The Fastway system is the most cost efficient weight system that also includes sway control that we carry in that tongue weight range.

You will also need a trailer ball for this system. If you need a 2 inch ball, then the # A-90 is the correct shank fit for the Fastway system. If you need a 2-5/16 inch ball, then # 19286 will fit the weight distribution system.

I have included a video on the Fastway system and an article that goes in more detail on weight distribution systems.
