For your 2013 Volkswagen Passat Diesel I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24880. This is a Class I hitch with 2,000 pound maximum towing capacity and 200 pound maximum tongue weight. It has the same capacities as the Curt # C11234 however the Curt requires using a support strap, part # 18050 whenever carrying a non-trailer load like a bike rack or cargo carrier.

If you're going to be towing a trailer with your Passat you'll also need a wiring harness. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56374 is compatible with your vehicle. I've included an install video for you.

You can use the Draw-Tite Drawbar # 3590. This will probide a rise of 5/8 inch. It also includes a pin and clip. If you need a different rise or drop I've linked our selection of ball mounts for you to take a a look at. If you need to purchase a pin and clip seperately # PC2 will fit a Class I hitch receiver. For a hitch ball either the 1-7/8 inch # 19256 or the 2 inch # 19258 will fit the ball mount.
