What is Towing Capacity of 2013 Volkswagen Passat TDI
Updated 05/14/2024 | Published 04/16/2024 >
Question:
Hi Jefrrey. I have a 2013 Passat TDI diesel. What size trailer is ok to tow? Open carrier is fine. It’s mostly surfboards. Heaviest will be some of my vinyl and a bamboo bed frame. I dumped my ex so that’s at least have the tow capacity freed up. Thank you for any information

Hey Anthony, looks like your 13' Passat is rated for towing up to a 1,000 lb trailer. Sounds like what you mentioned would fall under that number. Anything lighter than 1,000 lbs would be fine regardless of size. This would work great with the hitch part # 24880 and wiring # C56374. Congrats on the ex dumping too. Sounds like she wasn't "towing her own weight"...[rimshot]

And would this hitch work? Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class 1 - 1-1/4" Item # C11234 Also is there a reason I shouldn’t use the one with the 2” receiver size? Thanks again

Thank you very much for the reply. One more question. Would I be able to use a 2” ball with that receiver? Thank you again for the info. And ya man. You’re spot on. She only added more weight and too wild to get any kind of harness on to help pull hahaha
