Question:

If the cargo area is full and there is no room on the roof, how can I carry three bikes? on a budget, one hybrid bike, my wifes bike and a 16 inch kids bike.

Expert Reply:

I have a few different recommendations for your 2015 Honda CR-V that you will want to look at.
Guardian 3 Bike Carrier # SAR43FR will fit on the trunk of your Honda so you can make sure that the space on your roof and cargo area remains free. Keep in mind you will also need to get the Hatch Huggers for Saris Trunk Mount Bike Racks # SA3035 for installation on any of the Saris brand bike racks.

Since it looks like you have some varying bike frames that might not sit properly on the bike rack, I recommend getting the Rhino-Rack Bike Frame Adapter Bar # RRRBCA021. Bike rack frame adapters are used to help hold the bike on the bike frame.

I also recommend getting our 10 foot Long Cable Lock # e98891 and the Thule Passive Security Strap # TH533 for added security for your bikes and bike rack.

I am tracking with everything you have recommended above, I have a 2017 CRV. I have the Saris Bones 2 Bike Rack in my cart already. Along with the Hatch Huggers, but I am not sure if/why I need the Thule Passive Security Strap - if once the rack is attached and the vehicle is locked can the rack be removed without opening the back-hatch?

The Saris Bones 2 # SA805BL can definitely still be removed without opening the back hatch. The straps have 2 pieces and where they are connected together is outside of the hatch. So someone can just disconnect where they are connected and take off with the rack while leaving the halves of those straps inside your CR-V. Since the Thule security strap is 1 long piece it cannot be removed unless it is damaged.

@JonG Thanks Jon! That’s clear now. Can you tell me whether the Saris Bones 2 will late model Pacifica van? It’s my sisters and I’m not sure what year it is. We plan to take a trip together and I wanted to Take my bike. ??

@Kitty It doesn't look like Saris has any kind of fit for a Chrysler Pacifica unfortunately. If you're wanting a bike rack that you can easily transfer to multiple vehicles then you might want to check out the SeaSucker Talon # 298-BT1004. This is a little different than a typical bike rack but the vacuum cups are extremely safe to use and you can put this on practically any vehicle.
