What Is Amp Draw Of Bargman LED Surface Mount Tail Lights
Published 08/09/2016 >
Question:
I am replacing my fifth wheel trailer brake/turn/running incandescent lights with better/brighter/more visible lights. Am converting to LEDs, but want to change out the entire fixture too. I am interested in the CE86FR You do not say how many LEDs are in each tail light, If I presume 6 LEDs at .13 amps each that would be .8 amps for each tail light, or 1.6 amps for two tail lights now add the incandescent which is typically 1.18 amps per bulb for a 1156 incandescent bulb at least. So the total amps for the fixture is just under 3 amps for each side and 6 amps for a pair. I wanted to compare this with the Duel L:ED CE86FR This is a two light fixture, both are LEDs, so I am presuming 6 LEDs per fixture or .8 for one and 1.6 for both and for a set that would be 3.2 amps for a left and right tail light assembly. I am going to remove the existing incandescent fixture soon, and check to see if I have one or two or three incandescent bulbs. If I have two, so that would be four total that would be 8 Amp total. This is more than the Triple Light Series. I want to add a third brake light, and if it is an 11 diode lens, each diode probably takes .13 so that would be shoot 1.5 amps to drive that third brake light. I still would be under the original amperage. Hope I have not confused anything here, I also want to make my fifth wheel a lot more visible at night. So, that is another goal. Would presume the Triple Tail Light would then be the best choice. Thanks for anything you can do to confirm the amperage of the two light assemblies.

I went to the warehouse and took a look at the Command Performance Double Tail Light, part # CE86FR.
Each of these assemblies has 20 LEDs. With high illumination this assembly would have a draw around .17 amps and at low illumination that draw would be about .01 amps. Since you are replacing the incandescent fixtures on your fifth wheel, these will certainly not draw much and would be brighter than the lights you have.
