Question:

I have this bumper on 2012 jeep wrangler. What are my options for towing my jeep behind my rv? I dont care about appearance when not towing. Thanks

Bestop specifically states in the installation instructions for the HighRock # B4293301 bumper that the front bumper cannot be used for towing the vehicle.

I asked my Bestop Representative for clarification, and was told that the bumper CAN be used for towing, but ONLY if the bumper has been 'properly installed'. In order to be properly installed, the fasteners need to be torqued to the proper rating, but Jeep will not tell Bestop what the torque ratings are.

So, it's a catch 22 unless you can manage to find the proper torque ratings for the bolts.

I have confirmed that your Wrangler can indeed be flat towed, regardless of whether it has a manual or an automatic transmission. If you can find the proper torque values for the attachment bolts and decide to flat tow your Jeep, here's a quick rundown of what you'd need.

Roadmaster offers a D-ring adapter, part # RM-035-1 that would work with any Roadmaster motorhome mounted tow bar. For a tow bar, I'd recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2, part # RM-520. The Falcon 2 has plenty of capacity for your Wrangler, and the tow bar features self locking and centering arms that make hooking up to the motorhome fast and easy.

For wiring, I prefer a diode kit like # RM-15267. The kit incudes the umbilical to connect the motorhome and the Jeep, the diodes, the connector for the front of the Jeep and all the wire and hardware you'll need.

For a braking system, I really like the Even Brake, part # RM-9400. A portable system like the Even Brake takes only a few minutes to install, rather than a few hours of expensive shop labor like the permanently installed systems do. You'll also need a 12-volt outlet kit, part # RM-9332.

When the tow bar is installed, you'll want the towbar to be within 3 inches of level. You'll need to determine the height difference between the hitch on your RV and the D-ring bracket and then choose the proper high-low adapter to place the tow bar whin 3 inches of level.
