Is There a Difference Between Electric Boat Trailer Brakes and Non Boat Trailer Electric Brakes
Published 07/25/2016 >
Question:
Probably a dumb question but is there a difference in electric trailer brakes for a boat trailer vs other types of electric trailer brakes? I was thinking because they are submerged when putting in and taking the boat out of the water that perhaps they would need to be different. Thanks......and sorry if it is a dumb question.

Not a dumb question at all! But to answer your question there isn't really a difference between the electric trailer brakes for a boat trailer a non-boat trailer. Sometimes boat trailer people will go with galvanized drums to help fight corrosion but from a function point of view the braking systems are the same.
We recommend unplugging your trailer brakes before submerging them under water though.
I attached a help article on adding electric brakes to a trailer for you to check out as well.
