Features to know about

Fully Sealed and Corrosion Resistant

This Demco DA75 actuator is built for life at the boat ramp. Its finishes include black, zinc, and primed for corrosion-free operation, and the master cylinder is sealed with a diaphragm cap and a booted push rod to keep moisture out. A raised fill plate prevents intrusion when you remove the cap, and acetyl copolymer liners replace rollers for improved reliability.

EZ Latch Coupler

The EZ Latch coupler drops onto a 2" hitch ball and clicks shut on its own, even if the latch is already closed. You don't need to hold the handle while you work the jack or line up the ball. That keeps fingers out of the pinch zone and makes it faster to hook up by yourself. After it clicks, give it a firm tug to confirm the catch, then add a coupler lock (sold separately) to help deter theft while you're away.

Breakaway Status at a Glance

The color coded decal on the emergency lever shows red when the breakaway is engaged and green when it's released, so you can spot a tripped system before you tow. Bear in mind, this isn't a parking brake. If you're on a slope, use wheel chocks and your truck's parking brake to keep your trailer from rolling.

Smooth, Controlled Braking

Inside the actuator, a spring-loaded push rod controls line pressure while an integrated dampener reduces impact shock. That gives you more predictable braking even when your load shifts or weight fluctuates.

Video Transcript for Review of Demco Brake Actuator - DA75 Trailer Drum Brake Actuator Black - DM88CV

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Demco DA75 trailer brake actuator. Now, this actuator is designed to activate your trailer's drum brakes when you tow, you know when your tow vehicle slows or stops. So, something like this, you're not gonna have to worry about something like a brake controller. So again, this is going to work with trailers with hydraulic drum brakes. This is designed to fit straight three inch wide trailer tongues.

This works with a ball size of two inches, and this has a gross towing weight of 7,500 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 750 pounds. Now, the composite master cylinder is durable, it's efficient. The glass reinforced nylon construction is going to resist rust and corrosion. I'm giving you just a brief overhead view here, I wanted to show you that this does have a large reservoir that's going to give you increased capacity for brake fluid. And then the automotive style diaphragm cap is going to create a completely enclosed system to help prevent the contamination of your brake fluid! Now, this does feature Demco's easy latch coupler mechanism.

That's going to give you simple, secure hookup and disconnect, so you're gonna be able to hook up when the latch is in the closed position. So as you can see, the latch is (latch clicking) (hand tapping) in the closed position, I do have a two inch ball here. And it's just going to be this simple to connect, (latch clicking) just like that, so you got a secure connection. So, you're just gonna drop your coupler over the two inch hitch ball. That latch is gonna snap into place, and then when you're ready to uncouple, (latch clicking) you'll just let that latch up, and it'll be just as simple as that! (latch clicking) This does accommodate trailer locks as well, this does not include one, but if you need one, you can pick one up here if you don't already have one.

As you probably already noticed, (component shuffling) the breakaway system is included here, you're going to get the breakaway cable and the snap hook here, so this is, I believe, (components clinking) required by law in most, if not all states in the United States here. So, this is going to help prevent a trailer runaway situation in case, for whatever reason, your trailer would accidentally get unhooked or uncoupled from your tow vehicle. So that is a great feature (hand tapping) that this is included. This is constructed (component clinking) of black zinc finished heavy duty steel with a sturdy reinforced outer casing. So, this will bolt onto your trailer tongue, hardware is not included, so if you don't already have the appropriate hardware, you would have to source that locally on your own.

(hands tapping) The overall length from end to end, about 25 and 3 quarters inches long. That's a durable actuator that I think is going to hold up really well for you. If you have any questions on this actuator that I didn't answer for you during our time together or on anything else that we carry, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me!.

Looks great on there, John! Those Atwood couplers are starting to pop up more and more often now since they have been off the market for a while, so I'm glad we had a good replacement for you! Let us know if there is anything else we can help with!
