Trailer Brake Lights Not Working After Installing New 7-Way on 2003 Dodge Durango

Question:
Hi. I have an 03 Durango with a 7 way plug for my camper. I recently replaced the 7way plug on the Durango with an exact replacement due to corrosion. When we plug in we get all lights working except brake lights on the camper. All lights including brake lights work on the camper when my son plugs in to his truck. So, I concluded from that its in the Durango. We switched the connection behind the Durango taillights to get brake lights only for a temporary fix, but I was hoping to get a more permanent solution. Im not mechanically inclined, so laymen terms would be helpful. Also, may sound stupid, but I know the left turn and left brake are one wire on the plug and same for the right, but in the Durango they are two separate wires. Is there any kind of converter I can use or any way to connect the two into the one without causing any damage? Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give. New to towing

If the brake lights are not working but the turn signals are then you may have a blown stop light or CHMSL fuse on your 2003 Dodge Durango. Check the owner's manual for the fuse locations and for tow package fuses to check to see if any are blown.
The tow package wiring on the Durango is already converter so the tail light wiring won't have anything to do with the trailer connector wiring. But if you really wanted to you could use # 118334 that plugs in line with the tail light wiring and then cut off the 4-Way end and attach the yellow left turn/brake wire and green right turn/brake wire to the back of the 7-Way. The other wires would have to be taped up and stowed out of the way.
