This is the highest rated hitch available for your 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML350 for towing.

In addition to part # 13342, you may need the following to complete your towing setup:

Ball Mount part # C45010,
Pin and Clip part # PC3,
Hitch Ball part # 19260, or part # 19247 (The hitch ball size will depend on the trailer coupler size.)

Currently there is not a wiring kit available for your Mercedes-Benz ML350, you will need to acquire a wiring kit from the Mercedes-Benz Dealership and have them install it.

You are correct, you will not need a ball mount or hitch ball if you are just using a bike rack. A bike rack I would recommend is the Kuat Aluminum, Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Rack, part # NV22G. This bike rack uses wheel mount cradles to keep bikes secure and also features a tilting action to allow you to access the hatchback without removing the bike rack or bikes. Part # NV22G, also has a built in bike stand that holds a bike while you perform any maintenance needed on the bike. There is also a built-in cable lock to keep bikes safe and secure. For your 2011 Mercedes ML550, I recommend the Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver #13342. This trailer hitch has a 2 inch receiver that will work great with a variety of hitch mount bike racks.

As long as your 2010 Mercedes Benz ML350 isn't a BlueTEC or doesn't have the air ride suspension, the Curt #13342 is what I'd recommend. The #C13102 you'd looked at is for the 2012 GL350, and wouldn't be a fit for your ML350.
