No Drill Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Trailer with 1,000 lb Tongue Weight

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/30/2025

Question:

Hello, I am looking for help selecting a weight distribution hitch. Ill be using a 2020 silverado 1500 to tow a travel trailer with a GVWR of 7000lbs with a tongue weight of ~10. I want an option that doesnt require drilling into the tongue, and Id like to be able to use a friction sway control bar

Hey Christopher, so all of the WD systems that have friction sway control will require drilling into the trailer frame for at least just the sway control as that's how it attaches to side of trailer frame but I do have a similar solution that I think you'll like.

I would go with a system that has friction sway control built into the spring bars like the Blue Ox part # BLU75FR which has friction sway control built into where the spring bars attach to the frame brackets. This is also correct rated system for a tongue weight of around 1,000 lbs. What do you think about this option?

Hey Christopher, how did the Blue Ox weight distribution hitch work out with your Silverado and trailer setup? Your feedback could really help others looking for a no-drill option with built-in sway control.
