I have a dump trailer with surge breaks I am considering converting them to electric breaks. I have 2- 7000 lbs axels with 12inch drums what components would I need

Expert Reply:
You can pretty easily convert a trailer from surge brakes to electric brakes. It basically will require you to remove all of the hydraulic lines, lock out the actuator (or replace it), remove the hubs to replace the assemblies with electric units, and then wire up the assemblies.
I attached a help article that will walk you through this entire process. For 7k rated Dexter brake assemblies you would want the part # 23-465 for the right hand side and part # 23-464 for the left hand side.
For wire you would need the part # 10-1-1 which is 10 gauge wire sold by the foot.
