Should All Trailer Tires Have the Same Load Range

Published 09/10/2015

Question:

how would running ST225/75R15 D rating 8 Ply tires on one axle and ST225/75R15 E rated 10 ply tires on other axle of 2 axle boat trailer work out? trailer is about 2000 lbs and loaded boat about 6800 lbs. total about 8800 lbs. D rating near max for use on twin axle I think?

I would recommend you run the same Load Range tires on your trailer. The reason being that trailer tires should be inflated to their max PSI at all times and if you have two different Load Ranges with two different PSI ratings the higher rated tires will end up with an uneven amount of load put on them since they would have a stiffer sidewall.

I would recommend the part # AM10303 for all of your wheels as this is a Load Range E tire.
