Question:
What do I need and how do you set the transmission while being towed 2005 Volkswagen new beetle automatic front wheel drive

Expert Reply:
I did some research and the 2005 Volkswagen Beetle with automatic transmission will have to be towed on a tow dolly, it cannot be towed with all 4 wheels on the ground. Please consult your owner's manual to confirm this information.
For a tow dolly, if your Beetle has 16 inch wheels, you could use the one we carry, # RM-2050-1. If the wheels are larger then you will need to obtain a tow dolly locally.
Another option is to put the Beetle on a trailer so all of the wheels are off of the ground. The benefit is that it is safer for the car when on a trailer and you could potentially use the trailer for other things, unlike a tow dolly which has just one purpose.
