Question:
Trying to use the factory towing hookup on my 01 explorer, I found the plug drivers side but I need a 7 pin round. The round ones you have appear to be too short. I would guess I need at least a couple of feet? The flat adapter will not hook to my trailer, hence I need the round one. Please advise. Thanks.

In order to install a 7-way on your 2001 Ford Explorer, you will need to start by installing the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118241. Just remove the protective cap on the connector that you located and plug the 4-way wiring directly into that connector.
From there you will need our Universal Installation Kit, # ETBC7, which will provide the 7 way connector needed to hook to your trailer. I have included an installation video for you.
