Question:
I am building a 6x12 utility trailer and need an axle. I want to use a #3500 axle but not sure on the width needed. Can you adviseme on which axle to order?

Basically you will want to measure your trailer to determine where you will want the wheels of it to be so that you can pick out the correct length axle. There is not a set length of axle that a 6 x 12 trailer should take so you will have to determine about where you want the wheels to be and then measure the distance between where the mounting flange of the rims would be.
The only size 3,500 lb axle we carry is the part # 35545I-EZ-89 which will have a distance of 89 inches from hub face to hub face. If this is close to where you want your rims to be then it would work for you, otherwise you will need to find a place local to you that will allow you to order custom axles. The distance between the spring seats of this axle is 74 inches. Again you will need to determine if that dimension would work for you. You would need to be able to install the leaf springs on your trailer exactly 74 inches apart for this axle to install.
