Question:
Can Reese rails be used with kit #C16418 in my 2005 Chevy 1500 shortbed ?

Expert Reply:
We do not recommend mixing manufacturers when it comes to brackets and rails. Mixing a Curt fifth wheel into Reese rails does not pose a problem as that fit is pretty universal.
Sometimes, brackets will not exactly line up with the rails and this can be a problem which is why we recommend keep the brackets and rails from the same manufacturer.
If you want to use the Curt brackets, I would recommend using the Curt rails, part # C16204.
If you want to use Reese rails, use bracket part # 50041.
