Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit RP50081 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Reese Quick Install Custom Bracket Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2004-2014 Ford F150 trucks, all bed sizes. And on a custom fit part I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this part will work for your application. Now, these are custom installation brackets that will mount beneath your truck bed. They provide the attachment points right here, for fifth wheel rails. These are vehicle-specific brackets.

They're designed to mount to existing holes in your vehicle's frame, so that will help minimize drilling and measuring, cut your installation time in half when compared with the universal bracket systems. Now, the base rails that attach to these, that'll sit in the truck bed, they allow the installation of the fifth wheel trailer hitch. We do sell those separately. It's part number RP58058. And just to show you, I happened to pull one of those. Here's one of the rails.

They come as a set of two. But here's what the rails would look like that attach to these brackets. And then, these rails allow the fifth wheel to drop into your truck bed. Now, in this part, the kit will include the custom bracket shown here. All the mounting hardware, and even a nice set of detailed instructions that describe how to install everything. You'll notice the finish on these is a black powder coat finish.

Helps resist corrosion. But that should do it for the review on the Reese Quick Install Custom Bracket Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches.

My 5th Wheel Rails came with Universal "L" brackets but these brackets seem much stronger and also look good on the truck.
The main reason I purchased these was because it uses existing holes in the truck frame to mount. I didn't want to make holes that may not line up. These worked perfect for my 2006 Ford F-150.
One advice I can give, buy some "ratcheting" open end wrenches and attaching the rails to these brackets becomes much better since there isn't enough room for a socket between the frame.

  • Rails For Existing Reese 50081 Frame Brackets In A Ford F150
Hi Jerry! The Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches 50081 (our part # RP50081) are a fit for a 2004 to 2014 Ford F150, in case you were curious. I was. With that said, the rails to go along with them will be the Reese Universal Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10 Bolt # RP58058. This includes the hardware needed to attach them to the frame brackets as well. As to the sliding hitch, I recommend going with the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch...

  • Rear 5th Wheel Base Rail Measurement for 2011 Ford F-150 XLT with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
For your 2011 Ford F-150 XLT, the # RP50026 is not a fit for your 5-1/2 foot bed. It is a fit for the 6-1/2 foot or the 8 foot bed. For the 5-1/2 foot bed you will need the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50081-58 or # RP50081 for just the brackets. With this kit the rear edge of the rear rail will be 28-11/16 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed.

  • 5th Wheel Installation Kit Brackets Only for a 2010 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
First, for custom brackets, # RP50081 would be the best choice. The other brackets, # RP58426, are supplements to the universal installation kit so I do not recommend using them. Since your truck has the very short 5-1/2 foot bed you will need to either use a fixed 5th wheel hitch or a slider left in the towing position at all times and a Sidewinder pin box. A regular slider hitch will not be able to travel enough to allow you to make tight turns without hitting the truck cab and trailer...

  • Mounting Hardware Needed to Install Existing Rails for Reese 16k 5th Wheel in a 2005 Ford F-150
The Installation Bracket Kit for Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches for 2004-09 Ford F-150, item # RP50081, is the kit you will need to install your existing rails in the bed of your 2005 ford F-150 pickup. I have included instructions for you to review below. Keep in mind that if you are going from an 8 foot bed to a 6-1/2 foot bed pickup you may need to use a slider hitch to have clearance for maneuvering with the fifth-wheel trailer attached. You can measure from the center of the fifth wheel...

Hey Heath. The Curt No-Drill Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit item # C16441 brackets are for the 2013 Ford F-150s that have 6-1/2' and 8' long beds only. Since your 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor has the 5-1/2' bed you'll need to use the Reese Quick-Install Kit item # RP50081. If you are also needing the 5th wheel rails you can get them and the Reese brackets item # RP50081 with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails item # RP50081-58. • Can 5th Wheel Install Brackets and Rails from a GMC Fit on a 2011 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 Foot Bed
First of all the rails will likely work for you. Although it could depend on if you need new brackets or not. We recommend combining rails and brackets from the same manufacturer so you'll want to use brackets that are the same brand as the rails. For example, if he has Reese rails, part # RP58058, then you want a Reese bracket kit. If he currently has a universal bracket kit, like our part # RP30439, then they will work with your truck. This kit works with virtually any truck however...

  • Troubleshooting 5th Wheel Turning Clearance with 2014 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
For your 2014 Ford F-150 Super Cab with 5.5 foot bed, as Reese stated you should be good for your turning clearance with the 22 inch offset of the Revolution pin box (Factory version of Reese Sidewinder). I haven't heard of turning being reduced to under 40 degrees before, so it is possible the dealer didn't install the rails in the correct location. Most dealers use the universal installation kits like # RP30035 which can allow them to measure incorrectly. I've attached the installation...

Yes, for just the brackets of the part # RP50081-58 all you would need is the part # RP50081. Since the hardware that attaches the rails to these brackets is considered one time use the hardware you would need as a replacement is part # RP58430.

  • Brackets and Hardware Only for Industry Standard 5th Wheel Rails in a 2004 Ford F-150 5-1/2 Foot Bed
For your 2004 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 foot bed you can use brackets # RP50081 to work with the rails shown in the picture you submitted. You will also need hardware kit # RP58430 to attach the rails to the brackets because no hardware should be reused. The only issue is that you have a 5-1/2 foot bed. A slider hitch is not going to offer enough travel to safely make 90 degree turns without the trailer hitting the truck cab. A lot also depends on the width and design of the front of the trailer...

It looks like what you show are industry standard 5th wheel bed rails, you can confirm this be checking the front to back and side to side spacing of the hitch mounting slots and compare them to the provided photo. If they're industry standard rails, they should be fit-compatible with the Reese # RP50081 frame brackets. However, it's NOT recommended to mix frame brackets with bed rails from a different manufacturer. The brackets and rails are tested for weight rating together. When you...

Reese installation brackets # RP50081 are not a fit for your 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 short bed. For your truck you would need installation kit # RP56007-53. The outboard brackets require the longer rails. Your Reese hitch will fit this kit. If your truck bed is a 5-1/2 foot bed then you will not want to use a slider hitch. The issue is that the slider will not be able to slide back enough for you to make tight turns without hitting the truck and trailer together. Also, due to the length...

In order to install a Reese or Pro Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch like part PS30093 on a 2014 Ford F-150 you'll need the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50081-58 or if you already have Reese rails just the Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit part # RP50081. In regards to turning clearance, if you don't have the budget for a rotating pin box then you could probably get by with converting the fixed hitch to a slider using the Reese Fifth Wheel Slider part # RP50024.
