Video Transcript for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack Fat Tire Straps Review

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline, and today we're taking a look at the Fat Bike Tire Straps for your Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack right here at etrailer. This sits on top of the ramp even more so than the thinner tires. We're here with a four inch tire. We can't even get close to that lever so this is a no-go. And that's where these Fat Bike Straps can come in handy. So what you're gonna need here is, you do have two straps included, so enough for one bike, but you are gonna have to use a three millimeter allen key, as well as an eight millimeter wrench.

So get that wrench in place and then loosen that bolt. Put your new strap on the bolt and then tighten it back down. And once you have your strap fully installed, you can see how it now secures your wider tires. And just like that, you're able to replace the straps on your Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack. If you just need to replace the factory straps with the same size, we have those as well.

If you want the Fat Bike Straps, perfectly fine too. We do have on our product page different tire sizes where we recommend replacing them. Sometimes you have 3.5s, but you also have to 29s, and then that's when you need the larger straps. Or you have smaller tires, but they're also fatter. So as long as you have the right tools, it's an easy job..

The longer straps made a world of difference in setting up the bikes by myself. That you for your help. I took them for a ride over a bumpy road and they stayed solid as a rock

Just what we needed

by:

The fat straps we ordered solved our problem perfectly. We have an electric fat tire bike that did not fit on our bike rack because the straps were too small. We ordered fat straps from etrailer and all is well! etrailer was great to work with and very responsive when we emailed with questions.

by:

These straps are every bit as strong as the original smaller straps. Kind of wish Yakima would just through them in with the original purchase. Highly recommended!

by:

These straps were exactly what we needed to secure our Lectric bicycles to the Yakima bike rack.

Worked perfectly! The instructional video on the website made installation easy.

The straps are great. Lead time was excessive, but that is Yakima's problem.

  • Heavy Electric Bike Carrier With Ramp For Easy Loading
The best option for you is the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y36FR. This has a built-in ramp that will allow easy loading for your heavy electric bike; the ramp can be stored on the front of the bike rack when transporting. The Yakima OnRamp has a weight capacity of 66lbs which is the highest weight capacity available for your application. According to my research, your Himiway Cruise Ebike weighs about 72lbs and the battery pack weighs about...

  • Maximum Bike Tire Width Capacity Of The Yakima OnRamp Rack For E-Bikes # Y36FR
The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # Y36FR fits a maximum tire width of 3-1/4" as is. The bike trays are wide enough to accommodate your fat tires but will require the Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack - Qty 2 # Y23FR to allow you fit tire sizes up to 26x 4.5", 27.5" x 4.5" and 29 x 3.25". Note: the off-road and RV rated weight capacity of this rack drops to 40lbs per bike from the 66lbs per bike capacity it has on a vehicle. If you plan...

  • What Bike Rack with Ramp do You Recommend for My 2013 Audi Q5?
I have a great ramp solution for you. Unfortunately, the Swagman Current # S64678 does not have a compatible ramp that fits. It will, however, fit with the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 75940 when installed on your 2013 Audi Q5. With that being said, if you are looking for a ramp solution, a great alternative is the Yakima OnRamp - 2" Hitches # Y36FR. In addition to the integrated ramp, another advantage you receive with the OnRamp is the independently-adjustable...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Two Aventon Level E-Bikes
Yes, the Yakima OnRamp bike rack item # Y36FR you are looking at will work great to carry two Avaton Level e-bikes. This is a frame mounted bike rack so you won't have to be concerned with damaging your fenders. It has a 66 lbs per bike capacity. It is recommended that you remove your batteries, for safety purposes, when transporting e-bikes on any bike rack. This bike rack fits a 2" hitch. The OnRamp has a maximum tire width of 3.25" if your tires are wider you will need the Fat Tire Straps...

  • Will Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack For 2 Electric Bikes Y36FR Work With Standard Non-Electric Bikes
The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y36FR you were looking at will work perfectly fine with non electric bikes, as it has a maximum weight capacity of 66lbs per bike and you would be way under that. The # Y36FR is designed for bikes with tire 3-1/4" or less, so if your bikes have tires wider than 3-1/4" you will need the Fat Tire Straps for Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack # Y23FR as well. Currently the Yakima # Y36FR is the most cost effective bike rack that includes...

For carrying two electric bikes on your 2021 Kia Soul with a 1-1/4" class II hitch installed, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR. Apart from the integrated ramp, the OnRamp includes independently adjusting cradles that will fit virtually almost all frame styles. This eliminates the need of a bike frame adapter bike like the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005. Also, the OnRamp comes with a cable lock that protects the bikes while on the rack. • Will the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR Fit on My 2018 Lexus RX350?
Yes, the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR will be able to work with your Aventon Adventure fat-bike e-bikes, but you will also need to order the Yakima Fat Tire Straps # Y23FR in order to accommodate your 4-inch wide tires. Also, we always recommend disconnecting the battery from e-bikes before all transportation. This is because removing the battery will avoid any unnecessary risk of damage due to bumps/added torque. Since the OnRamp has a maximum per-bike weight capacity of 66 pounds, you will fall...

  • Fat Tire E-Bike Rack for Use at Rear of Motorhome
What you would want is the Yakima OnRamp part # Y36FR with the Yakima fat tire adapters part # Y23FR and you'd have a great way to carry your fat e-bikes at the back of your motorhome! While this really is your only option it is also a great option regardless due to how nice the bike rack is. The rack has a 66 lb capacity which is just enough your 65 lb bikes and also uses frame clamps so it would not interfere with your fenders.

I do have a solution for you, however, the Thule Passage 2 # TH910XT has a weight capacity of 35lbs per bike, so this will not be able to safely carry your E-bike. There is currently no trunk mounted bike carrier that is capable of transporting your 60lb E-bike. For your 2013 Ford Edge I recommend the hitch-mounted Inno Tire Hold 1 Bike Rack # INH110. This has a weight capacity of 60lbs. Since the weight of your e bike would be close to or over the weight capacity of the rack, you could...

Yes. You will still be able to roll your 4" tires up the ramp onto the Yakima OnRamp # Y96FR (1-1/4" hitches) and # Y36FR (2" hitches). The wheels just may not sit cleanly within the channel of the ramp when loading. With your 4" tires, you also need the fat tire straps # Y23FR to attach the wheels to the platform.

As far as the economical Curt Bike Rack # C18085-FB, this rack works. However, you need the additional bike frame adapter bars # 64005 for each bike in order to attach to the hooks of the rack. Also, the # C18085-FB is the fat bike version that is constructed for bikes with up to 4.88" wide tires. • Bike Rack Recommendation for Aventon Aventure e-Bikes
I really like the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR because it has an ample amount of space between the bikes and the mounting clamps are attached to the middle of the rack instead of on one side so it will be easier to configure them. This can handle up to 66 lb bikes which will be perfect for your application (although it is recommended to remove the batteries during transit), can accommodate up to a 50" wheelbase, and will work with 3.25" wide tires, but you can add the Fat Tire Straps # Y23FR which...
