Create a more stable ride for your tow vehicle and trailer with a weight distribution hitch. Adding spring bars to your towing system applies leverage, which transfers the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all the axles on both your tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in an even distribution of weight throughout. The result is a smooth, level ride, as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch.

Selecting a Weight Distribution System

The tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. If the bars of the system you choose are rated too high for your setup, they will create a rigid ride, which can result in a bouncing trailer. If, on the other hand, the bars are not rated high enough, the system will be unable to properly distribute the weight, rendering it virtually useless.

To determine the proper weight rating for a weight distribution system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then add to that the weight of the cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements make up the tongue weight rating for a weight distribution system.

This was shipped to me literally falling out of the box. The bars were sticking out of every corner and scraped up, The box was ripped open and in shambles. The inside of the box was completely visible and nothing was bagged or boxed inside, just loose in there dangling around

by:

Product arrived in large receiver hitch sized box. Inside was packing paper, to take up space, and the original box the weight distributing hitch had come in. The original box looked like it had been dropped off a loading dock 3 or 4 times before being put in larger box. Large box had no damage, what so ever. All parts were loose in the bottom where they'd come out of the damaged box. Fortunately, all parts were there. In summary, I got what I ordered fairly quick, but sturdier packaging would be nice.I will order from etrailer again.

I bought a new (to me) 2011R-vision Trail Sport. When installing the hitch with the help of the previous owner, (who had recommended the Blue Ox Hitch from etrailer), we could not get the left spring bar to lock into the receiver. After repeated attempts to no avail, we wedged the spring bar in and and after applying weight, it stayed in place and I was able to limp home. On arrival I unhooked the trailer and brought the hitch to my work bench where I discovered a metal burr from welding inside the left receptacle. I was able to grind the burr of with my Dremel tool and the hitch is now working properly. This project took well over 2 hours and was extremely frustrating! The previous owner had an older version of the Blue Ox hitch and I was fortunate that he had some experience with installation, none the less we were both exasperated. And one final complaint, the edges of the pry bar were sharp enough to cut my hand but a touch up with a file and some emery cloth resolved the problem. I'm not one to complain but I was pretty frazzled by the end of the 40 minute drive home.

Best hitch for E-Pro 16BH by far. I have towed my camper with 2021 F-150 for a few months without this hitch. Not bad but let me say that with this Blue Ox things have improved dramatically. Everything is level and sway has reduced significantly. I chose this hitch due to price as well as the the trailer tongue set up of my Flagstaff E-Pro 16BH propane and battery configuration. I assume same for E-Pro 16BH and GeoPro 16BH as these are the same build. I had to remove my propane tray to install this but things fit like a glove and was able to re-install the tray and tanks without having to relocate anything. The install instructions mention measurements from the center of the receiver which I found to be a slightly long for my trailer- see pics with the 20" and 24" marks

by:

This is a very good weight distribution hitch for light weight trailers. Installation was fairly simple, but can be cumbersome if you have to make any changes. Using a flat level surface and a tape measure is key. Recommend you get a tongue jack stand along with this, otherwise you’ll have a difficult time raising the trailer enough to get the arms on. Keeping it from being 5 stars, the packaging was absolutely awful. Multiple holes in the box that were taped up, parts had banged around inside the box chipping some of the paint. Hopefully this gets corrected in the future.

  • Is It Normal For Edge Of L Bracket On Blue Ox 2-Point BLU44XR To Wear A Lot?
That is not normal wear for the L-Brackets on your Blue 2-Point # BLU75FR to be that worn. It looks like you have too much angle in the head, so I recommend trying to tilt the L-brackets a little to try and get the bar less on just that one edge, and verify your system is rated correctly for your trailer. The tilting of the head is used to add tension to the spring bars so it's possible your spring bars are underrated for the tongue weight your using it for. With all of that said for...

  • Solution for Hitch Extension With 1,000 Pound TW and 10,000 Pound GTW Capacity on 2000 F-350
I have a possible solution, but none of the 14-16" extensions have a high enough capacity. The only thing that comes close is the Gen-Y # GY89SR which has a gross towing weight of 10,000 lbs, but the max tongue weight is only 500 lbs. This would also reduce the capacity of your hitch by 50% like many hitch extenders do. If you can handle it being slightly shorter, what you could use instead is the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch # BH20. This is 13-1/4" long and has the capacity you need....

  • Is The Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution # BLU75FR Correct for a 2023 Keystone Springdale 282BH?
Yes, the Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution # BLU75FR is going to be the correct hitch for towing your 2023 Keystone Springdale 282BH. This hitch is rated for a trailer with 800-1,200lbs of tongue weight and a GVWR of 12,000lbs or less. The dry tongue weight on your trailer is 690lbs from the factory. Once the dealer installs a 50lb battery and fills the two 20lb propane tanks this will quickly increase your tongue weight to roughly 780lbs. As your main cargo area is also on the front...

I would be happy to help! Actually to find the correct weight distribution hitch for your cargo trailer with a 7000lb GVWR you will want to find its total tongue weight, as that will tell you which weight spring bars you need to properly redistribute the weight. Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out! The 10K GTW rating of the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA94-00-1000 is the max trailer weight the system can handle. With that being said, when you choose a WDH you need make your selection based off the loaded tongue weight of your trailer as opposed to the GVWR of the trailer. For example, if your trailer has a GVWR of 10,000 lbs then an appropriate loaded tongue weight (at max capacity) will be 1,000 lbs - 1,500 lbs so you'll want something rated...
