When your solar setup grows past one controller or pushes series voltage limits, this MPPT unit steps in with 150V PV input headroom and VE.Can coordination. It keeps charging aligned across a larger system without rebuilding the whole array.
Array expansion often stalls when voltage limits get too tight, especially with series wiring. This controller accepts up to 150V PV open circuit input, giving you room to run longer series strings without immediately hitting a ceiling. That headroom keeps expansion options open and reduces the chance of redesigning your array just to stay within limits.
Once one controller becomes the bottleneck, expanding the system can turn into a wiring and coordination mess. VE.Can connectivity supports multi controller systems and synchronized charging, and it can daisy chain up to 25 MPPT controllers for coordinated operation. You can grow the system in stages while keeping charge behavior aligned across the whole array.
Shading and changing light can drag production down when a controller reacts too slowly or locks onto the wrong point. This unit uses ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking with an advanced Maximum Power Point Detection algorithm that locks onto the optimal power point when multiple peaks occur due to partial shading. You get steadier charging instead of watching output fall off when roof conditions are less than perfect.
Switching battery types can force a controller swap if charge profiles do not match. This unit supports lithium, AGM, gel, and flooded batteries with automatic voltage selection, dedicated charging profiles, and 8 pre-programmed charge profiles. You can reconfigure charging behavior as your battery setup changes without replacing the controller or compromising battery health.
Limited feedback makes it hard to tell if charging is normal or if settings need attention. Built-in Bluetooth Smart supports wireless setup, monitoring, updates, and charging synchronization, and VRM remote monitoring works when paired with a communication center (sold separately). You can check performance, change settings, and track system behavior without climbing back into the install every time.

Hi everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at the Victron Smart Solar MPPT. It's a 1-50-70-TR solar charge controller. Now folks, this is a powerful and intelligent solar charge controller that's gonna maximize your energy harvest from your solar array and get more power to those batteries, which is exactly where we need 'em for everyday use, right So again, this is an advanced controller and it uses, again, that MPPT or maximum power point tracking, and it's gonna continuously extract the most energy possible from your solar panels. So whether it's variable lighting, parcel shape conditions, those kind of things, this will help charge those batteries more efficiently and more effectively than the traditional controllers out there on the market. And of course, it's rated for up to 70 amps of charging current.
It's gonna support 12-volt, 24, 36, or 48-volt battery systems, and it can handle substantial solar arrays. So roughly up to 1000 watts on 12 volts, 2000 watts, 24 volts, all the way up to 4,000 watts on a 48-volt setup. And one of the biggest advantages of the VE.Can is that it has built in communication and networking. Lemme spin this back around here. So again, you have your VE.Can connections here.
Those are marked and everything. And again, you can communicate, integrate multiple controllers, or even connect this to a Victron system for modern and center for synchronized charging in real time data. And thanks to the intelligent adaptive charging algorithms they use, this will protect your batteries while delivering optimal charge profiles, whether it's lead acid, AGM, Gel lithium chemistries, and it also has protections against temperature extremes. Whether it's tot or cold, it's not gonna matter. Anything against short circuit reverse polarity.
This smart controller is gonna handle all of that with ease. As far as some overall dimensions, I got 9 13/16 long, 7 5/16 inches deep, and 3 3/4 inches tall. Now again, folks, I was using words like tall, wide, deep, depending on which way you're looking at it. Maybe you have it set up this way, et cetera. Those words can change.
That's why I wanna kind of show you where I was measuring on those. So, again, if you have any questions about this or any other products, reach out to us here at etrailer. We're always happy to assist you in any way we can. I'm Steven, thanks so much for watching, and have a great day.
