Hello Gary,
Yes, you can most definitely use a weight distribution system on boat trailers. We do not have any that come with a 2" ball, so it will require for you to remove the ball and install a new one to the toque spec of 450 ft-lbs.
When choosing a weight distribution system you want to be within the loaded tongue weight. If your loaded tongue weight is between 800-1,200 pounds then the Blue Ox 2-Point Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BLU75FR that you were looking at will be a great choice. If your tongue weight is in the 400-800lbs you will want to go with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-0800. If you are unsure of your loaded tongue weight you could use something like the # BTBRV44FR to figure out what the weight is.
On most boat trailers they have a straight tongue, so you will most likely need the Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems # EQ95-01-5950 (or for Blue Ox # BXW4023) to be able to install the weight distribution system.
Both systems require a 1 1/4" shank, the # A-90 is a great fit. If your trailer is over 10K please let me know so we can explore other options. You will also want to grab a Thin Walled Socket # EQ70-00-4800 for an easier ball swap.
Other things to double check is where the weight distribution systems are going to attach to the trailer. The # BLU75FR will install on the frame 27"-30" back from the center of the coupler (measured along the trailer frame). The # FA94-00-0800 will install 24"-27" back from center of coupler. Both systems fit trailer frames up to 6" high, and require a 2" receiver on the towed vehicle.
I've included some install/review videos for you to check out so you can get a good feel for the products before purchasing.
Let me know what system you decided to go with, and how you like it after your first trip. My boat has been couped up in the garage waiting for a non freezing weekend to head to the Ozarks here in Missouri to do some fishing. Iced over boat ramps are not ideal for putting in or taking out. What is your favorite lake you have been to?

Hey Gary, how did things go with the Blue Ox weight distribution setup on your boat trailer? Did the 2" hitch ball swap and adapter fit the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others working on similar trailer setups.
