You're checking battery levels in an RV but don't want another display to install. This monitor uses a 99.6% accurate shunt and the VictronConnect app to show state of charge and usage, so you get precise data without adding a screen.
Basic voltage indicators leave you guessing about what the battery is really doing, and a separate monitor adds more hardware to mount in an already tight space. The SmartShunt skips the built-in display and puts real-time battery data in the VictronConnect app, where you can check state of charge, voltage, current, amp hours, number of charge cycles, and time remaining. It uses 99.6 percent shunt measurement technology, so you're looking at detailed battery information instead of a rough voltage-based readout. In a compact RV, boat, or off-grid setup, you get clear battery status without cutting in another panel or giving up dash or wall space.

The SmartShunt gives you in-app visibility of battery and DC flow data with up to 30 days of history, along with configurable alerts and firmware updates through the app. It also supports extensive presets and custom profiles in VictronConnect, so setup can match the battery you're running. Instead of chasing a one-time reading, you can spot usage patterns, check how the battery has been cycling, and catch changes before they turn into a dead bank or a mystery drain.
Standalone monitoring can fall short once the electrical system gets more involved and you want battery data shared across connected gear. This monitor includes VE.Smart Networking over Bluetooth for wireless data sharing and system integration, plus a VE.Direct port for connection to a GX device and VRM access. It can transmit battery voltage, current, and temperature to connected chargers, and the auxiliary connection can be used for second battery monitoring, midpoint monitoring, or temperature sensing. In a built-out system, battery data doesn't stay trapped in one app screen, so connected components can work from the same information during day-to-day use.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Victron SmartShunt 300 amp battery monitor. Now this is a smart battery monitor that's going to tell you exactly what's going on with your battery bank. So instead of having a separate display mounted somewhere, this SmartShunt is going to connect wirelessly via Bluetooth. And this is going to use Victron's Victron Connect app on your phone or tablet, which will be a free download in the iOS or Android app store.
So you're gonna be able to see important information like your battery, state of charge, voltage, current draw, time remaining, and even historical usage data. It's going to give you the same kind of insight as a traditional battery monitor just without the extra screen and wiring. So you're gonna be able to see that all through that app. Now this is rated for up to 300 amps, which makes this a great fit for RVs, trailers, boats, vans, and off-grid solar systems. This is going to install directly in line with the battery negative cable, quietly tracking all of the power going in and out so it can calculate accurate battery status.
Another nice bonus is this does include a VE direct port. So if you're using a Victron GX device or plan to expand your system later, this is going to integrate very easily. Lemme give you some measurements here just so you have a good idea of the size. Looking at the overall length here at the longest point here, looks like we're sitting right at about four and three quarters inches long. The width at the widest point about an inch and a half.
And the height right here at the tallest point about one and seven eighths inches. I just got done installing the Smart Shunt and DC to DC converter and couldn’t be happier. The app for the shunt lets me check the battery state of charge easily.

The signal is not strong enough from the battery to my phone. I have to be right next to it.

Hey Jim, I’m sorry you’re running into that, that’s definitely frustrating. A couple things can affect Bluetooth range, like where the monitor is mounted or if there are any obstructions (walls, metal, etc.) between it and your phone. Under normal conditions, you can usually expect around 10–30 feet of range, but that can drop if something is blocking the signal. If you can share a bit about how you have everything set up, I’d be happy to help take a closer look with you.
