This thing is built of heavy-duty material EXCEPT for one thing; the locking pin. The locking pin holds the swingaway in the open position. The design allows the pin to be bent VERY EASILY. If it gets bent (mine got bent because I had it open on a windy day with bikes and a cover and the wind blew the bikes, bending the pin. If you want a new pin, you have to contact Saris, eTrailer doesn't offer the part, and neither does Saris unless you contact their Customer Service by phone. After all that, I installed the new pin and it still doesn't work properly! I don't recommend this hitch extender; the price is reasonable, but you get what you pay for -- and this POS isn't high enough quality.
The Saris swing away hitch extender appears to be well made. It's simple to mount on my Wrangler and my Curt bicycle carrier slides right into it. Now I can access the Wrangler's cargo area without having to remove the bike rack. Life just got better!
this is exactly what I have been needing, don't know why I waited; Could never open the rear doors of the RV van w/ the bike rack mounted - always had to remove the two eBikes (and the rack unless I want to shin into it several times); Now - simple-pimple, the Saris Swing Away swings out to the right - and boom, easy access to the doors to get inside the rear of the van, for supplies. I love it!

Still solid after a year. Dependable swing out of two lectric e-bikes for easy access to rear cargo door on RV van.
Already have a Sris bike rack, has been an excellent rack and well be compatible with this hitch, both very well built

Still working well after several trips and thousands of miles. Has made access to the cargo area of our GMC Yukon much easier.

Love it! It swings out of the way so I can get the back door open.
The other advantage is it allows the back door to be open a few inches at night (when the hitch is in the locked position) for airflow when it’s hot.
Well made and engineered!

Have used the hitch adapter on long many week trips with 2 bikes. It works great on our RV. Stable when driving and allows easy access to the rear of the Sprinter RV
Solid device with one significant design weakness. Spring loaded pin mechanism that holds swing arm in open position is easily damaged beyond repair. The first time I used this hitch, I tried to swing it closed without lifting the pin. The pin bent and the receiving hole was elongated. Net result is the pin won’t keep the hitch open now. I Contacted Ecohitch and they told me that it’s not repairable. Yes, my mistake, but the design is not robust to normal abuse” I have not measured it, but guesstimate that just 1 lb of force on the end of the swing arm probably translates to about 30 at the pin. (Guessing pin is 1” from hing point on 30 inch swing arm) Somebody bumps into it when it’s pinned open .. maybe 10 lbs force at the end? You get the math and the point. Other than that, and not being repairable….nice rig.

Has worked out great went from Texas to Canada with no issues
The construction of the unit is above anything that could be made for the relatively light weight of bicycles, even electric ones. The Unit fits so perfect into the existing hitch receiver and the additional bracket that comes in with the unit for the purpose of stiffening the extender up against the hitch receiver makes it supper firm. The unit does not move even one millimeter side to side or up and down.
I am super happy with the purchase.
I have put in receiver but haven't used yet. Seems very solid and operates easily. The lock to hold open has quite a bit of range, i.e., the unit can still swing a ways when it's locked open.
My only concern is how far the base protrudes in the rear which will significantly reduce the exit angle and rear clearance of the van.
This works well with our bike rack or cargo rack, just wish we could have got one that would swing the other way and that it wasn't so heavy. Otherwise, it's great.

This will solve the issue we have with our 1995 Dodge Ram Pleasureway Van - it allows us to install our existing bike rack into the Saris product so we can open our back door. Thanks.
This thing is big, strong, and gets the job done. My only concern is the spring loaded pin that keeps it open. It's the only piece that seems chincy compared to the rest of the rig. Definitely a quality product and fully loaded the bikes swing clear of the truck tail gate so you can load gear or truck camp etc.
Excellent swing hitch for the price. Pin at 90 deg. has some give in it, my only fault.

The swing arm is sturdy and well-made. It arrived within a few days of placing the order. The packing was excellent. The only reason I did not give the product 5 stars is that I have seen swing arms at 3 times the cost of this one, and they seemed a bit more heavy duty. I will know more after a few months of using the product. So far I am very happy.
Game changer. It gave me the ability to access the back of my truck without having to unload the bikes. A little on the heavy side but understandable. Worth the purchase
This works great, the swing away is the only way to go. It give you access to the cargo area of my jeep.
