Can Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender Be Used With Hollywood Racks Destination 4-Bike Rack

Hello. I am looking to purchase this Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender part SAR36VR? for my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS with a Curt 2” Hitch receiver. I am planning to use it with a Hollywood Destination 4 bike Rack. Since the bike rack doesn’t allow for trunk access when fully loaded, the swing away seems like a good work around. I believe my hitch’s tongue weight is 400lbs. The 4 bikes that I have are well below 30lbs each. Is this feasible?

Hey Alex! You can use the Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender # SAR36VR with your Hollywood Racks Destination # HR4000. The adapter cuts the capacity of your hitch in half so more often than not a 4-bike rack would be too much. However, the Destination is incredibly light at 42 lbs and your bikes are 30 lbs or less so you won't exceed the 200 lb (50% of 400 lbs) tongue weight capacity of your hitch.
