Variable-Speed Fan

MaxxFan Plus Fan Motor

The 12-volt, variable-speed fan operates in manual mode. You can choose from 4 different speeds to increase or reduce the airflow as needed.

This fan also exhausts stale air out of your RV. To enter ceiling fan mode, close the vent while the fan is still running. The fan then circulates the air inside your RV like a ceiling fan.

The fan has a fuse-protected, ball bearing motor that is sealed to keep out dust, dirt, and moisture.

Flush-Mounted Keypad

Keypad for MaxxFan Plus

The flush-mounted keypad on the vent enables you to operate the fan, including turning the fan on or off. You can also control the fan speed.

Manual-Lift Dome with Twin Arms

MaxxFan Plus Dual Arms - Manual

The dome on this roof vent is constructed of durable high-density polyethylene, and it is translucent so that some natural light can shine through. When it's closed, the dome provides a seamless, low-profile appearance that blends into the roof of your RV.

Unlike a dome that has only 1 arm, this manual-lift dome is supported by 2 sturdy arms so that it will not flutter during high winds or while you are driving.

MaxxFan Plus Manual Knob

And a manual hand knob is built into the underside of the vent to allow you to open and close the dome. Pull the knob outward, turn it to where you want it, and push it in to lock the dome into place.

Removable Bug Screen

MaxxFan Plus Bug Screen

This vent has a bug screen that helps keep insects and debris out of your RV. It is secured to the vent with 4 built-in retainer clips. These clips make it easy to remove the screen for cleaning or maintenance. Just rotate the clips, and the screen will pop out.

Installation

The MaxxFan Plus vent fits standard 14" x 14" openings in the roof of an RV, camper, or enclosed trailer. A white interior trim piece (or garnish), insulated electrical connectors, and hardware are included for installation. The vent also has a molded-in mounting flange that is lined with a rubber weather seal, which helps prevent leaks. Roof sealant (sold separately) is required for installation.

To install, connect the two wires on the vent to your RV's electrical system. The black wire is for power, and the white wire is for ground. Then insert the MaxxFan Plus into the opening in the roof and mount the flange to the roof. To finish, trim the garnish as needed to fit the thickness of your roof and install it.

MaxxFan Plus With FanMate Cover

For extra rain protection, install a MaxxAir FanMate vent cover (sold separately) using the molded mounting tabs located on the flange. The tabs are designed to align with the integrated brackets on the FanMate, allowing for a no-drill, tool-free installation. These tabs also have rubber inserts that prevent water from seeping in under the flange.

Video Transcript for MaxxAir RV Vents and Fans - Roof Vent - MA00A04301K Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the MaxAir max fan. This is going to do a great job at drawing out stale air, smoky, or hot air from your RV. If you would like to use this as a ceiling fan you can actually close the lid and the motor will continue to run and circulate air within the RV cabin. It does feature a 4-speed design that's going to allow you to get the fan speed you desire. The blade unit on the system, that's going to be a 10 blade design, and it's going to give us a diameter of 12-inches. I do have the lid fully open, so with it installed this would extend above the roof in the fully opened position by about 12 1/4-inches.

With this fully closed, it would extend above the roof by about 4 1/4-inches. Here on the internal components you'll see that it has this double brace design. These are just two lifting arms that are going to provide sturdy support for the lid when it's open. That's going to help withstand high winds without fluttering, and it can remain fully opened while you're driving. It's also got the nice rubber seal that goes around the opening to keep out dirt and moisture. To get it closed, it does use a manual hand knob operation located right here.

You'd pull that knob out, and then you would turn the knob to close the lid. Now this knob is going to feature a locked and unlocked position, so right now the knob is pulled out, so that's unlocked. That allows us to rotate it. When we have the lid in the position we want, we just push that knob back in to move it to a locked position. You'll also notice that located right here, this is going to be your on and off button. That's a flush mounted keypad, and that's going to allow you to turn the fan on and off.

Then the other button is going to allow you to switch between 4 different speeds. Again, you can get the fan speed that you desire. It's going to come with the roof flange, or interior trim piece, or garnish. That's going to give the unit a really nice look even from inside the RV, so it's got a just clean finished design to it. It's also going to come with an insect screen.

That's going to help keep out unwanted items. That can be removed for easy cleaning. The tabs that hold it in place simply just rotate out of the way and then you can remove this screen from the unit. It's also going to feature these waterproof molded mounting tabs that are going to allow for fast and tool free installation of a MaxAir fan mate vent cover. That is sold separately. The lid is going to be white in color. This is designed to install into a standard RV roof opening of 14-inches by 14-inches. It's designed to fit a minimum roof thickness of 2-inches to a maximum roof thickness of 6 1/2-inches. Now, it does require a minimum 12-volt DC 5 amp service. It's going to come with the necessary connectors. It's going to come with 2 butt connectors to get your wires connected. The fan is going to use a two wire design. White one is going to be for ground, black one is going to be for power. Then it's going to come with all the necessary mounting hardware. You're going to get this bag here that comes with the butt connectors and the mounting screws to get everything fully installed. Overall it's a really nice unit. A few more measurements I want to give you. Measuring front to back that's going to measure 16 1/2-inches. Then measuring side to side, that's about 18 1/8-inches. That's going to do it for today's look at the MaxAir max fan with the white lid.

Product came very quickly, good packaging and in perfect working condition...called customer service and they responded immediately and helped with inqiry...very pleasant to work with. The maxx fan was exactly as described easy to install and the electrical was super easy...it runs flawlessly is well constructed and looks amazing in the van...i converted cargo van to a camper and thus fan definitely helps keep the inside cool..i would definitely recommend not only this product but etrailer.com. 559106

High quality and no problem with installation. Replaced the OEM fan/vent in our 2017 Jayco JayFlight SLX 265RLSW. Certainly pulls more air through the camper than the stock unit with the tiny fan. Also installed the Maxxair FanMate cover and that was ultra simple, snap on the grill, place over the new vent and install the four clips. Installation instructions from Maxxair are clearly written and easy to follow. I like the ability to tow the camper with the vent open and the fan on so the camper is not hot as an oven when we arrive at the camp site. Etrailer.com shipping is quick and the fan and cover arrived in excellent condition as with everything I have ordered from them. The product description videos on their website are an added bonus. 552785

Not really happy with this product. Expensive fan that will not run for three minutes without turning itself off. Called the mfg , they said bad board they sent a replacement board , worked great for a week now it is back to turning itself off again!!! Not etrailers fault , just a sorry & expensive piece of junk. Wish i had bought the fantastic fan instead. How hard is it to build a 12 volt fan???? 552948

Good vent, good fan, works as promised. I installed a vent cover over it so I can leave it open without worrying about rain. All works well, but on my other motor home I've installed vents that are self-covering. More expensive, fewer parts. etrailer customer service is also good. Everything I've expected. 514152

Good quality, well made, nice control features. Only wish roof flange was metal as I have a ribbed roof and square drive screws would also be a nice touch. Other than that all I had hoped it would be. 558536

This fan has performed flawlessly for MANY camping tips over the last year. We have a mini camper and I like parking it in the garage. To facilitate this I mounted the fan on the exterior side wall at the trailer nose so it fits under the door. Installation was straightforward and has made our little sleep space very comfortable. One fine value in our opinion. Wholeheartedly recommended. 445500

Very easy installation. I'm an average do-it-yourselfer and had no problems. I replaced one of the original vents in a 20 year old Airstream. The hardest part of the installation was removing the old vent, Airstream didn't skimp on the adhesive. The Maxxfan looks good inside and out and the fan is very quiet. I was very impressed with the quality and workmanship of the whole unit. I've already ordered another one to replace the other original vent. 548216

My first review of this fan was less than glowing. We installed it in a class b motorhome , installing was a breeze , connected it to 12 volt circuit started up ran a few minutes then it turned off. Checked everything , turned back on same thing. Called tech support they said bad control board , sent me a new one , installed it. Same thing called them back , eric asked do you have LED lighting on that circuit? Rv owner had converted the lights to led lighting. Ran a seperate circuit for the fan & all is well , fan works great now!!! Took solving a mystery and lots of head scratching but we got it going and are happy with the fan and etrailer. 554589

The order was processed and shipped faster than I expected and arrived in excellent condition. This new max fan is light years ahead of the factory installed fan which barely moved any air and was very noisy also very easy to install. Etrailer is easy to do business with, I give them a 5 star rating. 669068

Bought this fan as a replacement to the original 20 plus year old fan in my trailer. It was a wonderful upgrade to what was there originally. Very easy to install. I was able to do it myself, even though I do not like being on the trailer roof. Electrically it was very easy to install. Runs very smooth and super quite to what was there before. 658263

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

Nice product, very impressed with it’s design, construction, functions, quality and ease of operations. It looks great on my Transit van. Being it’s a medium height roof I don’t want it to be any higher than it has to be. The low profile is nice. The height of van with Maxxfan open is 9 ft. 4 in. The etrailer installation video on the Transit was very helpful. I made a frame just as described on the video. Using the 2 x 2 ft. piece of 3/4 inch plywood to make the frame is the way to go. It provides the strength I needed due to the weight of my solar panel bracket just 3 inches away. The two screws you see near the edge of the frame is the solar panel bracket. A constructed picture frame style frame would never support the weight. It is a strong solid frame. The roof is solid. 634921

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

Nice fan, I put a 7000 over bed and installed this one over cabover in Class C. Install was easy and identical to the 7000. They need to include self taping screws to attach collar to roof, mine has a metal frame and included screws are for wood. It does have a thermostat button preset at 78 degrees so if you leave open it will pull or push air when cab reaches 78. 7000 has a remote and motor on lift, thats the only difference. 515231

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

The Maxxair Deluxe fan works better than expected. We ordered the version without a remote and are extemely happy with the product. It took me a while to get around to putting it in my motorhome as I thought I would have to fish wires through my ceiling insulation, but when I remove the vent (with no fan) there were wires for the 12 volt lights already passing through the opening. Some YouTube videos warned against using power to your lights to power your fan since they are switched. Each light in our motorhome has its own switch in addition to the switch up front that controls them all. I just have to leave the main switch on and turn each individual light off. We do that anyway most of the time so it worked out fine. The vent fan was pretty easy to install and I am not the most handy person you will ever meet. As always the fine people at etrailer were friendly and helpful and they have at least as good a price as anyone and better than most. Very happy camper. 497875

Review from a similar MaxxAir MaxxFan in RV Vents and Fans

Xcellnt Vent - Installed my vent a yr ago (long story), but only made it operational 10-2018, so I Very much like that it's manual, so i could open/close it without power. Best feature, dual lift arms. Able to drive with the vent open without the lid flapping "Very Stable". A great "Basic" fan vent without all fancy stuff like Rain Sensor, Thermostat, Variable Speed, like my last one that ends up not working after parts are no longer available. 4 speeds is enough. It's Quiet. Lifetime Lid Warranty "Awesome", my last one spider cracked from UV. Only option I'd like to see is "reverse". Doesn't feel like it's moving much air with the lid closed but I have not as yet used it as a ceiling fan to circulate heat. If it does it will be the perfect vent. I will be putting it to that test in the coming months so the jury is still out on that one. 583861

Looks great, working great. I installed it with minor problems. The side screws would not align correctly. I had a hard time pushing down on the top unit to align them. I might need to reinstall it, will check tomorrow. The part is reinstalling the top part does not mess with any sealed areas. 556920

  • Powered Roof Vent Recommendation for Trailer that Has Power Lift Lid
  • The MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe # MA00-06401K basically only requires a power and ground wire rant to it for it to turn on. You should note that the lid is a manual lift and does not open automatically. The powered lift model is the part # MA00-07500K which comes with a remote for you to control it. It's pretty cool as it has a thermostat that you can program, you can change the direction of the fan and open and close the lid all from the remote. Check out the review video I attached for...

  • Trailer Roof Vent with Low-Profile Height for Clearance at Garage Door
  • The 14 x 14-inch trailer roof vent with the lowest profile is the manual Ventline Ventadome model # V2110SP-24 which has a flat metal lid that will be approximately 2-inches above the trailer roof once installed. This does not have a 12-volt fan like the Fantastic Vent EZ Breeze # FV800601 that you referenced which will extend above the roof by approximately 3-1/2-inches. For a vent with a 4-speed 12V fan and manual lid lift we offer MaxxFan Roof Vent # MA00A04301K which when closed will...

  • How To Use a Roof Vent Cover With An Auto Open Roof Vent
  • The tallest roof vent cover we offer in white is going to be the MaxxAir FanMate RV and Trailer Roof Vent Cover part # MA00-955001 which is about 10-1/4" at its highest point. I will say that most of the auto-open roof vents will stop raising when they sense resistance so you may still be able to use the above or the Camco Aero-Flo RV Roof Vent Cover w/ Swing Open Lid part # CAM40421 that you referenced. However, if your roof vent does not stop opening when sensing resistance then your...

  • How to Get Better Airflow in a Trailer
  • There isn't a scoop or wind diverter that would direct wind into the trailer while parked so the best option would be a roof vent that has a 12 volt fan that can pull the air in from the outside such as MaxxFan # MA00A04301K. It fits in a standard 14-1/4 inch rough square opening and has 4 speeds. Leave the vent lid open and turn on the fan to pull hot air out of the trailer. there is also a ceiling fan mode for circulation. I have linked a video review of this vent for you.

  • How is MaxxFan Roof Vent Installed in 2" Roof?
  • The MaxxFan Roof Vent with 12V Fan # MA00A04301K will fits roofs that are 2" - 6-1/2" thick, and in order to install it in your tear camper's 2" roof you are correct that you do need to cut the insert - interior Garnish Trim Ring - to make it fit the thickness of your roof, as you can see in the accompanying cutout of the directions I've added. You will need Sealant # 0160297 for the install, but the MaxxFan comes with the rest of the necessary hardware.

  • Can Powered Fan Roof Vent Use Household Batteries Instead of Vehicle Battery to Function?
  • There is not a powered fan vent that runs off of batteries like a 9v or C's. You will need to utilize the wires to obtain a 12 volt power supply for the vent like the MaxxFan Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00A04301K, but you can utilize whatever system you want to get that versus using the vehicle battery. A, C, and D series batteries can be stacked to give you this. You would need 6 of them as they are each 2v. You could also look into lithium battery options. 12v and 5amps are needed...

  • Troubleshooting MaxxFan Roof Vent Suddenly Not Working
  • If your MaxxFan Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan like the part # MA00A04301K that you were looking at suddenly stopped working I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to see if power is getting to the fan. Depending on how the fan was installed, it may be attached to a circuit breaker that you can check but most likely it was wired directly to 12V power. If you test the wiring and see that power is getting all the way to the switch, you may simply need to replace the switch. If you can...
