I really appreciated the assistance of William, who answered all my questions and gave great suggestions to put all the pieces together.
I purchased the Draw-Tite Trailer hitch and the Curt aluminum hitch cargo carrier last Spring, 2025. My intended purpose was to expand our Toyota Highlander's cargo volume in order to haul additional items to and from my daughter's out-of-state college apartment. The one-way trip is over 250 miles, and it is typically needed up to four times a year.
My wife normally drives the Highlander and frequently needs to haul things that fit inside the vehicle. So, I needed a carrier that could be easily removed. The 25 lb. Curt carrier fits the bill perfectly. I had considered folding carriers, but all weighed significantly more than the Curt. Being in my 60's, I wanted a lightweight carrier that I could easily handle.
In the last 5 months, we have used the carrier for two college runs and one short haul to pick up a furniture suite locally. The carrier has performed well for these trips. The eyebolts make it easy to attach cargo straps, and the wide slots allow plenty of room to thread ropes and straps across the length of the carrier.
Quite satisfied with the product quality and strength. I did as other commenters advised and used double stick tape on the reflectors. The original didn't adhere adequately in cold weather.
Very impressed with etrailer. Our first carrier was damaged in shipping. The return process was fast and we had a replacement within a couple days! We've been out 3 times (so far) and the carrier is perfect for our camper van. Thank you!
Solid carrier. Add a hitch anti-rattle bracket and it seems like it's part of the vehicle - no movement. Holds an 80# generator and tools, no problem.
Works great! I needed a rack for transporting bales of hay to my animal sanctuary that was light enough for me, a very petite 60+ woman, to put on/take off by myself. It works perfectly. I did have to buy an extension (was about $10) due to the rear spare tire on my Jeep. Well worth the investment as I use it 2-3 times a week.
The Cargo Carrier works great. It’s light and easy to install and remove. Carrying totes and securing with bungees works well. This makes for minimum effort to open/close van back doors with carrier installed. It is also small and easy to store when not in use.

Hey Leo. Glad that the carrier has been so versatile for you. What kind of cargo are you carrying with it?
Not a person that typically reviews but the whole process with etrailer was rock solid. Response time was quick, staff was super helpful making sure I received this before a trip, and the cargo carrier and bag logged their first 4 day trip with rain without any hiccups.
I am using this with my Polaris Ranger (requires a hitch extension) and my car. Has worked great, is manageable for this old lady because of its light weight.

I originally ordered this to increase my cargo ability on our 2016 Tiguan; it has been reliable and easy to use. When I ordered this from e trailer I got a great price and fast shipping and it even arrived a day early! I have been very satisfied with my purchase.
Cargo carrier works as I needed. It is close to vehicle which can make it tight to insert receiver pin ... but that was expected. Preferred the carrier close to keep cargo weight closer to vehicle rear.
After some careful research for my choice of carrier I got the curt 49". Well built and light weight. I also appreciated the hardware which included 4 eyebolts for tie points. The unit was date stamped in July of 20. New old stock but that's beside the point of manufacture. A rubber mallet was handy for bolt hole alignment. The carrier will last for many years and a pro is that there are no plastic corners to rot in the sun. I like the look, the size and of course the eye bolts.
Received the cargo carrier and Thule offset hitch unit all in great shape with no damage from shipping. The right angle hitch piece is due here at my home on Monday.
Clean lines, light weight but sturdy!
Very sturdy yet as light weight as possible. Fit to receiver could be a tighter, has quite a bit of movement when unloaded. Will see how it rides with a load on it.

I believe it may have bent at some point between the basket and the receiver with a 250 lb generator mounted. Cant tell for sure without removing the generator.
I'm giving 3 stars only because, like all vendor sites, a review was requested before even having a fair evaluation time of the products. It would be nice if sellers delayed their ask for at least 3 months. How am I supposed to know if it's sliced bread or a heaping pile without using it yet.
Received product on time without any damage. Easy to assemble ready for use. Performance review unavailable until completion of planned trip completed end of September. Very pleased with this and recent purchases from etrailer.
So glad I researched carriers and found this one. Meets my needs exactly. Best features for me by far is its simplicity in construction, obvious strength/rigidity, with very high quality welds throught. Zero screws/bolts to rattle loose or catch on things. Buying on line can leads to some small 'dissapointments' however I am over the moon with this purchase.

Works great as advertised. Fits perfectly in a Tesla Y, though you would often have to tip the out of the way to get the hatchback open when it is mounted, but given that a Y hitch is only class II (despite a 2" receptacle), more gear to avoid this is not practical (a Tesla Y hitch is really only for light loads). Also, this is why I bought this one, because it is light (aluminum) and so allows a bit more cargo. I also use it with a Curt anti-rattle hitch pin kit, which avoids left-right rattling while driving (get a "Thumb Socket Driver" if you do this, though, as the space near the hitch is pretty tight).
This cargo carrier is perfect for people who have to install it alone. It's very light weight and sturdy. It appears well constructed, aside from the reflectors that are bound to fall off. One reflector fell off straight out of the box due to plastic being attached to the sticky back of it, causing it to not stick. Some reflective tape will fix that very small issue for me. There is a little bit of sway to it, so I'll be buying a hitch tightener. The slats will make it much easier to clean, and it looks nice on my 2018 Outback. There is a lack of attachment points for tie down, other than the wide slats. If you're using rope instead of bungees, this shouldn't be an issue. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality and weight of this carrier.
Cargo carrier is well made and light weight due to aluminum construction. Things to note. Rack does scrape the ground on steep driveways but this can be fixed with a rising hitch. We use it on an Audi Q5 your height will vary. You will want to get one of the anti rattle devices to remove the slop from the hitch.
The cargo basket is lightweight, good quality and mounted on the hitch easily. This is the nicest quality cargo basket I saw, especially in its price range. We wanted to create extra space inside the Jeep when camping and traveling. We recently used it to travel with our coolers and it was incredibly easy and convenient. I highly recommend this cargo basket.

I am giving a 5 star with the fact that the product was what I expected it to be, well description and pictures on line. Easy assembling took 20 minutes with only 4 bolts. Have not yet attached to hitch with any load so in hopes that works well. Seems sturdy with the attachable hitch with expanded stress frame. Only issue is parts bag was thin and open on one end with several parts spilled out into box. Box not to bad but could have lost a part. Needless to say I was a little gitty for a moment until I found the last of all parts still in box. After the find of all parts I give a five star for this product being what I expected. Just need to have parts in thicker bag and secured to the carrier would be a big plus. Otherwise you could end up with not all parts that would make a bad day.
Fit perfect on the back of my 2019 GX460 while still allowing the swing door to open. Just make sure you get the etrailer anti-rattle hitch stabilizer. I also added reflective tape to the sides since it only has reflectors on the back. Easy to carry and install due to the light weight.
As usual, etrailer is fantastic. Order was received earlier than scheduled. Only issue is the plug for the hitch mount was missing. Called up and had a replacement sent right away. Customer service is the best. I have had nothing but success ordering through etrailer over the years.
Item arrived very quickly in good condition. It is packaged very well with extra protection for the corners. It literally is a piece of cake to assemble, just lay the basket upside down and place the hitch part on top. Slip in the 4 bolts and tighten...done! Haven’t used it yet seems very sturdy, very well built, and is light enough to easily hang it on a wall over your head. I looked at hitch hauls for weeks before finally finding and settling on this one and I’m very happy with this carrier. I definitely recommend this Curt cargo carrier.

This carrier has served me excellently. I use it two to three times a week. On a few occasions I overloaded it and all was well except the second time when the excessive load broke my car spring.
