Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier For Sprinter RV With Rear Mounted Spare Tire

Question:
We do offer some hitch-mounted carriers that may work for you on the back of your Sprinter RV. Using an extender in any hitch will reduce the weight carrying capacity of the hitch by 50 percent so we do not typically recommend using those. One carrier you might want to check out is the Pro Series Cargo Carrier, part # 63153. This carrier's outside dimension are 61-1/2 inches long x 25-1/2 inches wide x 5-1/2 inches tall. The distance from the center of the hitch pin to the closest edge of the carrier is 12-3/4 inches. I have attached a link to a product review for this carrier you can check out. You can take a quick measurement to see if a carrier will clear the rear mounted spare on your RV. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the spare tire, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the spare tire. If the measurement you take is less than 12-3/4 inches you will have enough clearance with the # 65153 carrier.
